The air is crisp in the mornings now and this just may be the last week of the flower field blooms…and that is always sad.

Frittilaria is in a season and a muted orange color palette, two of my favorites. And it all starts with just the right vase. This terracotta buff vase has a very wide opening, so I started with filling with water and adding in a nice pillow of chicken wire to support the stems as I add them into the design and work with the angles and curves of each organic stem until the vase is brimming with blooms!

Pictured here: The Japanese anemone is one of my all time favorite flowers in my garden and the seed pods are almost better!
It’s not a great cut flower but such a sweet magical tall whimsical bloom in the garden that always surprises me and the long and tall lanky stems and perfectly round little seed heads dance in the wind as summer ends and lay dormant in the winter. Every year they come back and multiply and remind me of the wonder of the seasons.

P I N K
In the office I am planning the styling & decorating schedule & booking all the holiday floral events … while also thinking about which Dahlia tubers were the best performers to divide and store for next year! And …wrapping up the wedding season with my second to last wedding for 2023!
But the flower field spoke to me in pinks, corals and lavenders today as I harvested for the weekly subscription bouquets early this morning. 💐
It’s that “Sweet Spot” between Summer and Autumn🤍
The nights are getting chilly but the flower field is still pumping gorgeous blooms. Even the Sweet Peas are singing in deep pink, coral, cream and lavender!
Tomorrow is the first day of Autumn and our field is also bursting with Amarathus, Ruebeckia, deep burgundy and mustard Dahlias, Chocolate Lace and full of winter squash & pumpkins too!

… But that’s for another post 🍃🌾🍂
