This distinctive eagle-shaped badge, dating back to the 1920s, belonged to Virginia Eliza Verplanck. It was awarded to members of the Daughters of the Cincinnati, an organization dedicated to honoring the legacy of the American Revolution. Members are direct descendants of commissioned officers who served under George Washington during the war.

Today, the society continues its mission by organizing educational activities to preserve the history and values of the American Revolution and providing scholarships to daughters of U.S. military officers.

Every year, a dedicated team of volunteers work their magic to transform Mount Gulian into a holiday wonderland! They hang fresh evergreens, decorate multiple Christmas trees, and ensure every room sparkles with festive cheer. We’re incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication. 🎀

Their rich history spanning over 12,000 years in Lenapehoking

Local tribes like the Wappinger, Esopus, and Tappan

Life before European contact, the impact of arrival, and the Lenape diaspora

The current renaissance and return of the Lenape to the area

Presented by: Harv Hilowitz, Contributing Scholar for the Maritime Museum in Kingston.

Admission: $12/adults, $10/seniors, $5/children (5-15). Free for Mount Gulian members (membership open to the public!). Reservations are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome, if space allows.

Don’t forget! Our Scary Stories in the Barn event is happening this Sunday at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3:15 p.m.

This fun event will feature stories geared towards adults, but there will be kid-friendly ones too! 👻 We will also have apple cider and other treats available for purchase.

Admission is $15 for adults; $8 for children (ages 5 through 15). Be sure to dress warmly as our historic barn is not heated!

This dome-shaped brick oven, also known as a “beehive oven” was popular until the Industrial Revolution. The dome shape helped to cook food evenly, but there was no accurate way of regulating the temperature. Cooks would test the temperature by sticking their hands inside and adding wood as needed!
