The Beaumont Maypole was erected in April of 2015 to honor the memory of local philanthropist, Paula "Torchy" Salter. The pole measures 22 feet high and is constructed of solid fir. The bronze topper features a fairy in Torchy’s likeness, complete with wings and wand, and was created by local sculptor, David Cargill. The blue and white stripes were painted by local artist, Summer Lydick. The Maypo

le Festival is a fundraiser for the Beaumont Botanical Gardens and is held every spring on the Saturday before Mother's Day. It is an annual blessing of the crops and celebration of the arts for young and old alike. Visitors can stroll through the garden with mystical fairies and shop local food and art vendors. Children can enjoy carnival games, face painting, and feeding the giant koi in the outdoor fish pond. Bring your own blanket and picnic in the Gardens while enjoying a variety of live entertainment. A cash bar is available for adults in a designated area. The festival ends with the Blessing of the Crops, followed by a Maypole dance to wrap the Maypole.

Big, huge thanks to this year's Preservation Bash: Fiesta in the Oaks hosts, Jimmy & Tammy Stark! They bought their beautiful house on Long nearly two years ago and have quickly made it a home.

Come see it Saturday and help us celebrate 30 years of the Oaks Historic District Neighborhood Association!

For those who have been inquiring, the Beaumont Council of Garden Clubs, after 55 years, has been taken over by someone else. We'd hoped they would continue the festival but, apparently not. Please call the gardens to express your interest and maybe they'll bring it back next year.

Thank you all soooooooo much for the support you have shown to the Beaumont Maypole Festival. We will truly miss this event in our community.

Peace and love,
Moon and Stars Committee
