Cutting back herbaceous peonies signals the end of Summer. They have been soaking up the sun ad photosynthesing all summer long. When at least half of the green is gone from the leaves, they are no longer storing energy in the roots and they are preparing to go into domancy. If you don't cut back your peonies, the old foliage becomes unsightly, but most importantly, the removal of the dead and dieing leaves help prevent carrying over disease to next year!

Picnic in the Peonies Thursday, June 6th. Tickets are available on our site. Our farm will be open to the public 2nd week in June until June 9th from. 9 am until 5 pm. No entry fee. Parking $5 per car. No peony bouquets this year due to hail damage, but that leaves more for you to view. Potted peonies for sell on Saturday from Hidden Springs Peony Farm.
