Can’t tell you how many roads I drove down by myself in the middle of nowhere to find this bridge 😅
Finding photo locations takes serious effort. It’s about more than just a pretty spot. From scouting to checking lighting at different times, making sure it’s not private property and if it is private property, seeing if we can get permission to shoot there still, details matter.
The right location can turn a simple photo into art.

3 reasons why you should consider scheduling family pictures now:
1. Mild Weather: Late summer or early fall offers pleasant weather—This makes it easier to coordinate outfits and ensures everyone is comfortable during the photoshoot.
2. Beautiful Backdrops: don’t really have to explain this one except it’s sooooo green right now.

Summer is my favorite time of year, I love the heat but totally get that the heat isn’t for everyone and you really should be prepared whether you like it or not.
Here are some tips to prepare for a summer photoshoot :

🔥Choose the Right Time: Opt for early morning or late afternoon , and evening to avoid harsh midday sunlight. Open shade areas are great options as well.
🔥Plan Outfits: Wear light, breathable fabrics and vibrant colors that complement the summer scenery. Avoid busy patterns that can distract from the main subjects.
🔥Use Sunscreen: Protect your skin from sunburn, especially if you’ll be outdoors for an extended period.
🔥Stay Hydrated: Bring water to keep everyone refreshed and avoid heat exhaustion.

Here’s a basic workflow for one photoshoot:
1. Preparation:
• Select a location or studio.
•. Finalize date and time
• Arrange equipment: camera, lenses, lighting, props, etc.
2. Ensure all necessary tools and accessories are readily available. Over and over again
3. Shoot:
• Direct clients and provide guidance on poses and expressions.
• Capture a variety of shots, adjusting lighting and composition as needed.
• Review images periodically to ensure desired results are being achieved.
• Stay flexible and open to creative ideas that may arise during the shoot.
4. load sd card to computer. Save photos to 2 different external hard drives.
5. Review and Select:
• Review all images captured during the shoot.
• Narrow down the selection based on quality, composition, and eliminate duplicates
• Select the best shots for further editing and processing.
6. Post-Processing:
• Edit selected images using software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.
• Adjust colors, contrast, brightness, and other aspects to enhance the final result.
• Retouch images to remove blemishes or imperfections if necessary.
7. Delivery:
• Prepare final images for delivery in the desired format (print, digital, etc.).
• Deliver images to the client or publish them according to the agreed-upon terms.
8. Wrap Up:
• Organize and archive all project files and documentation.
• Handle any administrative tasks⬤
