"The work of performing arts presenters has never been more urgent...we are essential in providing refuge and creative space for artists in a turbulent environment, we are essential for people who are afflicted with what our Surgeon General cites as the top health risk in our country: an epidemic of loneliness and isolation; and we are essential in bringing communities together to have experiences created by artists that can bridge the many gaps that divide us and give us insights into imaginative futures that we cannot quite grasp
right now."

– Pamela Tatge, Executive & Artistic Director at Jacob's Pillow

“Nothing could top the excitement of meeting up with my friends at the Pillow Pub after watching Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart perform "Minus 16" in the Ted Shawn Theatre – we were practically buzzing, recounting the jaw-dropping moment when the dancers, in complete silence, moved to the echoing thunder and patter of rain from the summer rainstorm raging outside.

Where else, except at Jacob’s Pillow, would I have ever experienced that?!

These individual moments, as unrelated to professional development as they may have appeared, ultimately fostered long-lasting artistic and professional connections that shaped the way I view my future in the arts.

Peeling back the curtain of the organization revealed opportunities to use my experiences and passion for dance in a meaningful way."

"In modern parlance, milonga has come to mean the gatherings where tango as a social dance practice occurs—often in community gathering locales, rather than on stages.

Social Tango Project bridges those worlds at Jacob's Pillow, which is both a performance venue and annual summer gathering for our Pillow communities throughout the campus.

As you take in Social Tango Project's performance, we hope it inspires you to find a willing dance partner, perhaps create your own milonga on our lawn, and engage in the transformative power of social dance.

In the words of Artistic Director Agustina Videla, it is 'a very powerful experience to discover over an extended period of time how people's lives have changed when they enter the world of tango.'"

Shamel Pitts returns to Jacob’s Pillow in Festival 2025 with "Touch of RED," a powerful and symbolic homecoming for the inaugural season of the reimagined .

A performance artist, choreographer, and Artistic Director of TRIBE, Shamel first developed "Touch of RED" during a Pillow Lab residency in the original Doris Duke Theatre in 2020.

When the theater was tragically lost to a fire during his residency, Shamel and his collaborators completed their work in the Perles Family Studio, channeling resilience and artistry to bring the piece to life.

As Shamel reflected, “It keeps the connection and the research of the work itself and the artistic journey of it constant.” ❤️

Four years later, "Touch of RED" returns to the new , a testament to the enduring connection between this work and the Pillow.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Peter Yarrow, a beloved musician and cultural icon whose music has touched countless lives.

In 2008, Peter Yarrow joined us at Jacob’s Pillow for the premiere of “Leatherwing Bat,” choreographed by Trey McIntyre and set to the timeless music of Peter, Paul and Mary.

Watch on JPDI → https://bit.ly/41ZPUWC

He also hosted a memorable PillowTalk that year, sharing his insights and stories in one of our cherished discussion series.

Later that summer, Yarrow performed the heartfelt "Day is Done" during the recording of “Leatherwing Bat,” bringing his unmistakable voice to this meaningful collaboration.

We are honored to have been a part of his extraordinary legacy.

Rest in peace, Peter Yarrow. Your music and spirit will forever inspire. ❤️‍🩹
