Jackie & Josh were married on one of last years’s few perfect-weather summer weekends at the Bride’s family home on Lake Winnipesaukee. The chuppah was fashioned from a quilt made with panels lovingly decorated by family and friends.

Two aisles for two Brides!
Our Brides wished to feel completely embraced by their guests as they made their vows, even though their ceremony was to take place on Omni Mount Washington Hotel’s expansive Jewell Terrace. We proposed amphitheater-style seating with two aisles so both Brides could process with their children at the same time.

Sara from The Fuchsia Peony created a lush semi-circular grounded arbor and gorgeous pedestal arrangements to frame the two aisles.

My favorite part of working with private estate weddings is walking in with “fresh eyes” and envisioning different and unique ways to create a magical event experience, while embracing the property’s unique attributes.

The items of highest importance include safe and welcome accessibility for guests, functionality for catering and event staff, and of course, availability of restrooms, power and parking.

Once the logistics are covered, then the fun begins! Event design includes tent, floral and lighting plans, customization of menus and cocktails, music and media. These elements are truly the icing on the cake!

Wedding planners wear a lot of hats, but the number one job requirement is to do whatever it takes to make the wedding day perfect for our couples and their guests.

Sometimes I’m a cake decorator or a seamstress, a flower girl whisperer or shuttle driver (don’t ask!)- and always a traffic director, orchestrator, translator and cheer leader. But I have never left a wedding, no matter how large or small and thought, “I didn’t need to be here today.” Maybe it’s an emotional father of the bride who wants to run his speech by me, or a bride who just didn’t love the way her hair came out… or the groom who can’t quite get that bowtie tied correctly, a caterer who forgot something back at the shop or the venue manager who needs me to run interference so 2 brides don’t cross paths in the lobby. It’s crawling through the hedges to find the power source for the DJ and driving Nana and Papa down the rocky path to the ceremony in a golf cart. It’s a different job every time.

There are so many moving parts that all come together on a wedding day, both planned or unplanned. The real role of a wedding planner is to take it all in stride, execute and create the magic. And make it look like a piece of cake🍰

In this career, you get to meet some pretty special people and be a part of really important moments. I have had the pleasure of knowing Cody and Molly for over a decade- planning and officiating their wedding back in 2012, building a friendship and assisting with other family events since that time. This past summer, I had the absolute pleasure and honor of planning and officiating a surprise 10th anniversary party and Vow renewal for these beautiful people. In 25 years of creating joyful celebrations, this is definitely one of the sweetest highlights!

I’ve decided that it would take all day to properly curate my end of the year recap reel, so instead I am going to continue to relish these last few holiday season moments with my family and offer up one image from the first wedding of 2022 along with my most sincere thanks and gratitude. Blissful Beginnings turned 25(!) a few months ago and this career continues to bring me joy, creative achievement, treasured friendships, and fills my life with incredible people every single day. There will be much more celebration of these past 25 years in the months to come, but for now, I will share my love and good wishes for all that lies ahead in 2023! Cheers!🥂
