Gayle Cagle Obituary
On November 24, 2025, Linda Gayle Gagle of
Lexington passed away in Parsons, TN.
Born November 9, 1939, to Charlie & Francis Reed. Gayle chose her career to become an elementary teacher. This choice led her to Paul G. Caywood Elementary, where she became a 1ST grade teacher and in her latter career a 3rd grade teacher. Many students were graced with her knowledge and care as their teacher. She always saw the best in Children and loved her job until her retirement in 1995.
After her retirement she became a familiar face of Parsons Mortuary, which she was the proud owner of and loved helping and serving the families of Decatur County.
Gayle also had a strong love for horses. As an owner of horses from a young age she maintained that love throughout her life. She owned and showed Racking and TN Walking horses throughout her life.
She loved her family and friend whom she remained close to throughout her life.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 44 years Sammy Cagle.
She is survived by her daughter; Kim Hall (Butch) Petterson of Lexington, TN, grandchildren; Jessica Wood of Lexington, TN and Charlie (McKell) Wood of Parsons, TN, great grandchildren; Paxton Wood, James Wood, Lexi Wood, Grey Wood, Lilly Wood, and Ben Wood.
Visitation will be held on Friday November 28, 2025, from 10:00 until time of funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 28, 2025, at 1:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to a local animal shelter of you choosing or the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, TN.
