A very common questions is - what happens if it rains on my wedding day?
That's a great question! Well... we work around it! Unfortunately we cannot control the weather, or predict it so far in advance when you are just planning your wedding if it will rain or not. But I promise it's not the worst thing - the wedding venues are well prepared for these situations and as well as the rest of your wedding vendors if they are experienced (which is why its important to work with vendors who have experience to avoid any hiccups!).

On this wedding day, it rained for the majority of the day, but we made it work! We found some beautiful covered locations, and ran out for some portraits when they rain stopped for 10 minutes at one point in the day and it was the most beautiful even light from all of the clouds that absolutely worked in our favor!

With that said, if you are planning a wedding, you are already thinking about a million things that comes with the wedding. And no matter how the weather turns out, there are always ways to work around it, the most important thing is that you are getting married to the love of your life and you are surrounded by your family and friends who want the best day for you. Let your vendors handle everything around you and enjoy the moment❤

Oh hey, I am turning the big 30 today. I used to be so incredibly intimidated by this number, and not because of the age itself, but rather because of the expectation of what your life "should" look like by this time. It felt like I was in a constant race against myself with no true finish line in sight because my expectations of myself continued to grow, every time I achieved something that I worked hard for, it felt like it was time to do something bigger and greater. And that's the hardest part, its not the expectations on the people around you, but it's your own judgement and expectations of yourself that are the hardest to reach. It's important to remind yourself that you have to be able to stop and just live, to be present in the moment and to breathe. I am so thankful of everything in my life and the people who are in it.❤ Cheers to 30!

Happy First Day of Spring!

I'll be completely honest - I am not a huge fan of heat, and summers can be a struggle. But Fall and Spring weather are right up my alley and I am ready for the weather to stay on the warmer side (lets say goodbye to the cold wind!). You never know with Maryland weather, it's always a rollercoaster, but I am hoping we're going to have consistently nice days because I am seriously so ready for outdoor sessions!

Mountain sessions are still some of my favorites but I know that it can be very time consuming to get to, so I've started scouting some new spots for my couples that have a similar feel but are not as hard to get to. What are some of your favorite spots?!

This week I have ran into a very interesting conversation about having the First Look done at weddings. Are there more pros or cons for brides and grooms to do the first look at their wedding? Well, just like with everything - there are pros and cons -however, that list can look incredibly different for each couple! Each couple if unique and there is no right or wrong answer to if you should do the First Look at your wedding or not. As a wedding photographer, I would be more than happy to help you go over your timeline and see what may work the best for you big day! The main goal is to have something that work FOR YOU❤

Okay, but I LOVE capturing getting ready photos. When making a timeline for photography coverage for weddings, I often get asked if its worth to have the getting ready photos done. And I want to scream it from the roof tops - ABSOLUTELY, YES!

Looking back at these moments often becomes some of the most treasured memories. Its the feelings of excitement, and having family and friends with you to share these moments before you say the big I DO.

Oh hi, it's me behind the camera!

As 2024 has started, I figured this was a good time to reintroduce myself to everyone. If you're new here - I am Karina, the photographer and founder (that sounds fancy) of Green Feather Photography!

What's up with the photography name?
I am a big bird lover, the amount of bird themed stuffed that I have is ridiculous at this point and my friends are always sending me bird pictures and bird memes. When I turned 18, I wanted a parrot for my birthday and I got a green cheek conure which then inspired the names for my photography business.

How long have you been doing photography?
I feel like that's a tricky question. In general? I started getting into it in middle school. Then as I got into college, I started getting into it more seriously and I started reaching out to models and doing styled shoots and eventually it lead to collabs and referrals for actual bookings which was about 10 years ago🤯

What's your working style?
I am pretty casual doing the shoots, I don't like to make things too formal or be too robotic. Each shoot is different and everyones level of comfort in front of the lens varies too, so we just hang out and chat and have a good time and create some magical pictures.
