Days like today make me really miss my dad. This is the stuff he loved, the visionary things. Creating new businesses and working through the logistics that follow.

Tonight I am headed to the planning board meeting, seeking site plan amendment approval for Coastal Bites! I’m so excited to bring this business to fruition. To share the incredible property with our community again. But I’d really love to plop down at dad’s table and go over the exciting plans before I go to tonight’s meeting, just to get the butterflies out, but I can’t.

I’m super thankful for those in my life who share in my enthusiasm and excitement, but no one’s capable of filling the gap that’s been left with the loss of my father. I know he’s proud, and I know I’ve got his energy/soul/love with me, but today is still tugging at my heart strings a bit. A bittersweet day. Hopefully the meeting is easy and we will be full-steam-ahead on the food truck park!! 🎉

Seeking: A Fairy Tale Happy Ending (or maybe a new beginning?)

The Cinderella Project of Maine is searching the land far and wide for an appropriate new location in the greater Belfast area to host our local event from roughly April 13 through 21, in 2024.

As many are aware, for years, Waldo CAP and the Wentworth Event Center shared a beautiful partnership each spring, working together to give teens a special "fairy tale" experience. The Wentworth Event Center graciously donated their space to host the event, making the entire project possible. Not only did the donation of space give us a central venue, but the donation cut the cost of hosting this project by thousands of dollars that we might have otherwise been unable to cover. Our entire community was rocked by the loss of the event center in August, and The Cinderella Project is in need of locating a new (hopefully donated) space to continue this long-standing tradition in the region.

Our volunteer "fairy godmothers" who assist teens in preparing for their magical "balls" are already thinking about how to transform a new space to meet the growing needs as this event has taken on a life of its own over the years - 650 gowns were chosen statewide at no cost to the Cinderella participant last year alone. The goal of the project is to remove the burdensome cost of dressing to attend special events like proms and other formals, making those momentous occasions accessible to all. Anyone who has participated as a volunteer for this event in the past can share stories of seeing faces light up with joy as they find the perfect dress.

Please share this post and help us find our new location. In this world where its so easy to feel lost and alone, help us spread some joy. Please reach out to Monica Pettengill @ (207) 338-6809 or email [email protected] if you have a space for us to consider.
