So here’s a moment of reflection this evening. Because we’ve always been a family business since the day we opened our doors, let’s share in the transparency that we do within our family with each of you as supporters of Local. I recently saw a post shared about “this season” if you will for small business as we all try to stay afloat and not lose our dreams and focus to the world of big business. It’s easy to fall victim to “convenient” and lose focus of what you want the future to look like in some of our small little corners of the world.
Small business within every community is important! It’s the motivation behind a family, it’s the support for your schools, children’s sporting events, the backbone to food cupboards/kitchens, the drive for another small business, and most importantly the feeling of “community”. Small business is a blessing. It’s rewarding and it has given us personally many freedoms to be with our children and an active part of our community. However it’s also a sacrifice, It’s hard. Really hard! Especially in times of struggle. It’s easy to fall short and question the dream.
Many of the small businesses that opened before us or some even after haven’t survived. I spoke with two small businesses today alone that are either closing up their location due to lack of revenue or postponing their growth to see what happens with our economy. Sales are at a record low across the nation in the small business world, cost increases and inflation have effected our artisans, and each day we pray and trust that in times of uncertainty our faith will see us through. This isn’t a post for sympathy or sadness. It’s reality.
It’s a post for people to share, support and find those local businesses around you that really need you in this this season.
Every day we are able to keep our doors open, turn on the lights, heat the space, add an artisan and write that check; it’s another day we get to share our joy within this beautiful place we live. We grow when we can laugh with our supporters and talk with other business owners. We celebrate when we have another day that we can say “we’ve made it.”
We are one of the lucky ones for sure. We do not take that for granted. We continue to feel the support from both local and seasonal customers and continue to share our blessings with those experiencing more challenging times. It costs nothing to like, post, comment, & share another small business.
As a small business it also costs nothing to cheer another small business on. Send the note, visit them and tag them, mention their name to a customer, share their page, buy the coffee because you see them behind you in the drive through and you respect the grind. Be that person! We are all better together, always.
From
One small business owner to another, we see you. Keep doing your thing and have trust in the process. What isn’t easy Is often what leads us to success and the most fulfillment.
To our customers, we thank you! We are blessed and we see what you do to support us and this little dream. ❤️
