An arrangement using only daffodils-my fave spring blooms.

I’m starting to get lots of questions about flower availability this season, so I figured that I’d clear that up here for ya!

Since I intentionally delayed the flowers this season with the new babe, the flowers will start rolling in mid June through the fall. I also might have some bearded Iris blooming next month and will keep ya posted! I planted them in the fall and sometimes they don’t bloom the first year after planting. We shall see😊

Let me know if you have any questions!!

Hey, I’m alive over here!

Figured, since that’s our 3rd kid about to pop out of my belly any day now, that I should give you guys an update on this coming flower season and what I’m dreaming for the future of the farm.

Let’s start with perhaps a bit of bad news-I won’t be doing subscriptions or regularly stocking this season.

Why? During last season I kept getting this overwhelming word in my mind to PAUSE-when I finally gave in to that word for this coming season, I was filled with such peace. Wrangling 2 kids (soon to be 3) under 5 full time on the daily is so hard, running your own business is so hard, farming is so hard-doing them all at the same time is a bit insane. Last season I felt like the joy was getting sucked out of all the things that I love doing because I was running myself ragged trying to keep up. So this season, I’m going to pause a bit and plan for the future.

This season I want to grow less, grow more dahlias, do lots more pop ups at local businesses and markets and see ya’ll face to face, sell more to florists, help my oldest grow her own garden for the first time, enjoy more flexibility and time to spend with family and friends, and dream up and plan the future of the farm for once we move to our land.

What land? WE BOUGHT 8 ACRES in Little Flock and will be building a home out there. I’ve got like 4 acres of potential growing space in my future guys🤯. We’ve been running this show on barely a quarter acre all this time and I cannot wait to get my hands into our new ground. I want to focus more on heirloom/specialty cut flowers-the ones like my grandma grew and that inspired my love for flowers as a kid-garden roses, bearded Iris, peonies, lilacs. Have a hoophouse or 2 for anemones and ranuncs, and heirloom chrysanthemums. Do more dried things. Have a space to teach workshops and host workshops by other local artists/makers. The list goes on.

Soooo many possibilities and the dreamer in me is looking forward to having the space this season to really start laying out concrete plans to paper and detailing out what this business is going to look like in the coming years.

Slowing things down a bit is terrifying. 😅

I just really want to remember these moments-My oldest (4 years old) drawing and planning out her first garden plan with such precise care and attention to detail. She ran outside with her notebook and watering can, ready to dig in with a huge grin on her face, too excited to plant her seeds and see how they grow.

We got sidetracked weeding and mulching the iris bed first, but she had her supplies all set and ready right next to her patch in the field that I’ve set aside for her to do whatever she wants with this season. While literally chopping at weeds with her hand rake (not the most effective method but she had fun 😂), she said to me “mom, I’m going to be the best farmer girl ever!” You probably will be kid, you probably will be🥲.

Real life note-we ran out of time to plant her hardy annuals in the garden 😅, but are all set and ready to make it happen today. There’s always so many different projects to work on that pull us in all different directions around here. I’m looking forward to being more intentional with my time this coming growing season and more intentional with helping cultivate a joy of growing and creating things in my little ones.

UPDATES ON WHERE TO GET FLOWERS THIS WEEKEND!

First option is . I’ll be bring looots of bouquets to Airship hopefully later today (kids woke up stupid early today when I planned on making bouquets. Blah!🤦🏻‍♀️). Otherwise, they’ll be there first thing tomorrow morning. Either way they’ll be there ready for the .market fun to happen! I’ll keep ya posted!

Second option-come see me at on Sunday afternoon from 2-6 pm. I’ll have a little flower bar set up where you can build your own bouquet or have me make you one.

Hey heyyyy!!

Just wanted to pop in and give you an official statement that flowers will be back at this Friday morning 5/20!

My delivery driver (ahem my husband) is out of town, so me and the kids will be wrangling the flowers to the shop probably late morning as soon as we can get ourselves together and out the door (let’s be real if you don’t know me well. That takes longer than it should🤦🏻‍♀️ like I think I have all the time in the world to do all the things and then next thing I know it’s noon😂😅🤦🏻‍♀️)…I’m shooting for 10 am. Which in my language probably means I’ll be there at 10:30.

Hopefully someone else relates 😅😂

Flowers will be at Airship steadily for the rest of the flower season!! I’ll always update you before I restock. But I try to do Tuesday and Friday mornings.

So many flowers are starting to come in from the field now! These babes went off to a fellow farmer and a florist this weekend.

Bouquets will be coming back to for next weekend! We had a brief hiatus while the spring bulbs ended and the hardy annuals started kicking in…but we’ll be back in full force for the rest of the season. Unless I kill it all somehow😅.

We’ve been slowly cranking away at the massive amount of planting that needs done over here and trying to be chill about it. It’s fine it’s fine it’s fine😅

Here’s to the weekend!😎

OR YOU CAN HAVE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION FLOWERS DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR if you’re an customer. Check out their website to sign up for their compost swap program, if you’re not already, and to purchase your flower subscription through them! Teamwork makes the dream work🤜🏻and farmer “armload shots” with flowers and compost bins are just 2 peas in a pod😂.

If you’ve ever shown up at Airship wanting some flowers and been bummed when they’re sold out…GET A SUBSCRIPTION so that you can have these babes on lock down. Pick up subscriptions are available for purchase on our website as of NOW.

Spots are super limited for both options. Still growing on a little under a quarter acre for now people (8 acre farm in our future though😍). Space is TIGHT.

I cannot thank you all enough for supporting this flower thang that we’re doing over here. It truly means so much to see my flowers filling your spaces and hopefully bringing ya’ll some joy.

Let me know if you have any questions!

FLOWERS WILL BE AT TOMORROW!!

Most of these went off to a couple florists/designers today, but a few flower babes will be available at the counter at Airship tomorrow!!

I’m so excited to be bringing flowers back to the coffee shop for you all this season. I’ll be stocking Airship sporadically as the flowers start trickling in (I’ll keep you posted on when I do it) and then I’ll be stocking a couple times a week as we have the availability.

News about purchasing CSA’s will be coming VERY soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

PLANT SALE LIST

Ok ok, I heard you! You want to know the varieties of things that I’ll have at the plant sale so you can plan your gardens and have TIGHT beds that look like THIS😂. Sooo here’s a list. And fyi a lot of these are limited supply-like a few of each thing/6 packs/pots. Didn’t want to go too crazy for the first plant sale and then find out that you guys don’t garden as much as you buy cut flowers😆

Herbs-
Globe basil, mountain mint, rosemary, greek and Italian oregano, lemon and French thyme, garlic chives

Flowers-
Rooted dahlia cuttings, my 3 fave basils for bouquets (also edible), bunny tails and frosted explosion grasses, ageratum, ammobium (winged everlasting), grandiflora flowering to***co, celosia (goood colors like coral reef, pink champagne and more😍), zinnias (Oklahoma and benary’s giant varieties, and 1 pack of zinderella peach), cosmos (apricotta, cupcake white, double click bicolor violet), gomphrena, jewels of opar, mahogany hibiscus, should I throw in some celosia seeds I saved from the field last year?🤷🏻‍♀️

Perennial Flowers-
Coreopsis, yarrow, bearded Iris

Vines-
Nasturtiums, cup and saucer vine, love in a puff seeds

Houseplants-
Rooted cuttings from my pepperomia plant😎 so we can be houseplant family friends

Help me out-I can’t decide if I should mix up the colors on the zinnias 6 packs or leave the 6 packs one color per pack. THOUGHTS!? What do you want!?

Also. I’m thinking of putting together cut flower garden kits which will have all the things that you’d need to make a lovely bouquet from your garden-like a couple dahlia cuttings and then all the lovelies that would go with that. You guys interested in that? Obviously you could just buy all the things separately and do that too.

Let me know what you think! I want this to be catered towards what you all need for your spaces so your input is so helpful! Otherwise I’m just guessing🤪

And to remind you all. The sale will be happening in our booth at the .market on April 30th along with cut flowers bouquets from our field. I hope to see you there!

You all just get bombarded with daffodil posts for the rest of daffodil season😊

I’ve been getting so many questions about what these lovelies are and the answer?…is narcissus otherwise known as DAFFODILS. Can ya believe it!? They can look like this!?

These are the first 2 varieties that are blooming in the field right now with 7 more varieties to go.

I love them. I love them so much. They are so enchanting and smell soooo good. You stick the bulb in the ground once and are rewarded year after year with these beauties. Like anyone can do that!! Grow more daffodils people. You won’t regret it.

The field is slowly waking up over here, plant sale babies are growing strong, and lots of planting and bed prep is in our future.

In other news, our kids had the stomach bug 2 weekends/weeks in a row the first kid one weekend and then the other the weekend after that. Not fun. Not fun at all. We tired. 😅

BUT our 4 year old turned 4 last weekend (when the youngest had her turn with the stomach bug😅) and has been making a statement with her flowery dresses, new Spider-Man bike, and pink and purple paw patrol helmet. So look out people she’s GOING PLACES. 😂 she’s also been asking us a lot about Wakanda and if it’s a real place and has been pretending to fly there at nighttime when she’s supposed to be going to sleep. We wish kid. We wish.

Let me know if any of you want to snag some Spring blooms! I’m happy to deliver these guys (within a reasonable distance) until we’re reestablished in Airship. Anemones are super close to being ready too!

03/18/2022

Hey!! I’m starting to get asked about when the flowers are coming. Good question!!😅 this winter is really draaagging it out and slowing down the flowers. But they’ll be coming soon! I think here in the next 2-3 weeks we’ll have the anemones and fancy daffodils start trickling in in small quantities. I’ll keep you posted on availability of things when the time comes!

Some other orders of business-

1.) Yes we will have our flowers back at this season!! We’ll get set up in there once we have enough flowers to stock regularly.
2.) Summer CSA’s (flower subscriptions) will be going for sale coming up in April. We’ve got a lovely partnership planned with another local business, so there will be a few different ways to get your bouquets. And we are so excited…space will be limited because for now I technically still only have a quarter acre lot😆. So keep an eye out for when those will be going for sale and for more details on our new partnership😊

Thanks for being here guys. Today was rough and you all made me feel so loved, and not alone in the struggle. It can be scary to share about the hard things, but I think we’re stronger when we do. We don’t need to feel like we’re suffering or struggling alone because we’re never alone. Thank you for showing up for me today and to many of you for making me laugh-so good for the soul. 😊

PLANT SALE INFO!-

Hey hey!! If you’ve been following along in my stories, then you know that I’ve been teasing you guys about a plant sale happening this season…and here are the detailzzzz (finally). 😅

We will be back at the Spring Fifth Market .market this season selling cut flowers from the field AND plants, grown right here with love, for you to take home to grow and enjoy yourself. Can ya tell how jazzed I am about the plant babes I’m growing for you in this pic!?😂

Our booth will include all the cut flowers from the field, and baby plants. I’m growing a lot of my favorite and easy to grow annual cut flower varieties that you can’t find at the store, herbs perfect for your garden or pots, some rooted peperomia houseplant cuttings, a few types of perennials, and hopefully rooted dahlia cuttings from my fave dahlia varieties that we grow on the farm (if I can get them to wake up in time). My friend will be coming in hot with veggie plant starts and more herbs. So we’ll have a little bit of everything!

I can’t tell you how excited I am to see these plant babes enter your care and to see the joy that they will hopefully bring to you. There’s just something about growing things, getting your hands dirty, and seeing the fruits of your labor that is good for the soul.

I’ll be posting more updates on these babes and more details about specific varieties as we get closer to the date!

The Spring Fifth Market is a collaboration with , , and and will be happening on April 30th from 2-7 pm in the Lawn on 5th St. It will be an afternoon of makers, music, food + drink, and will be so much fun. I hope to see you there!

Hey!! If you’re newer here, I kind of slack off with the Instagram posts in the winter season🤪. Sorry😬😂. I’ve been busy trying to catch up on EVERYTHING, and planning this year’s field and some fun events that I’m looking forward too.

I still find it hard to believe that somehow the tiny plant babies that are growing in the field right now, and that I will be starting soon…will be starting to turn into actual flower babies in just a couple short months.

I’m also working on updating the website soon-especially the wedding/events page to showcase some of the work that I did from last season. If any of my couples from last year feel so inclined to shoot me a message/review with a picture or two that you’d be comfortable with me using on the site, I’d be so thankful!!!!😆

I made these bouquet babes with flowers from me and early last Spring for a styled shoot captured by . I’m always a sucker for the family dog in pics😍.

Sustainable Thanksgiving centerpiece-go outside and cut tree branches and bushes and grasses or dried flowers, that you haven’t cut back for the year yet, and then stick it in a vessel. The hydrangeas dried like that on the bush and nearly everything else I cut from outside, the day of, as well. I added some dried wheat, jewels of opar, and celosia that I had dried earlier in the season (but those elements could have easily been replaced with dried grasses if you don’t have dried flowers hanging out around your house🤪).

You end up with a centerpiece that perfectly reflects the season you are in at this moment, with elements from right around you that haven’t been doused in harmful chemicals and shipped thousands of miles to get to you.

I could go on and on about all the things that I’m thankful for this year, and it is sooooo many things big and small-from the sound of rain on the roof, to God and His love and my family and friends, to failures and struggles that help me learn and grow and become better-I’m thankful for all of it.

I am so thankful to you all for being here and supporting this little business these past couple seasons. I hope that you’ve had moments to pause this season and cherish all the things that have been gifted to you in this life and have been able to share it with those close to you. I know that the holidays aren’t always sweet or full of love and joy or spent with the people that you love, and that some of you may not feel in a place this year to feel like you have cause for much gratitude for anything and that’s OK-know this-you are loved, you are loved, you are loved, and you matter.

300 narcissus bulbs (daffodils), which include 6 new varieties to the field, in the ground today! These Spring blooms are soooo enchanting, are one of the first things to bloom for us, and smell sooooooo fracking good. I love them so much and I hope you guys love them too.

We are behind doing everything this Fall it feels like, but it’s ok-nature will figure it out anyway😆.

Dusty talked me through driving the tractor and using the scoop to get the compost covered over these babes tonight and I didn’t die. So, now I drive tractors like a real farmer😂

I (never driven a tractor beyond the steering that my grandpa let me do as a kid) get in the seat of the turned off, parked tractor…

Dusty-“buckle up right now”
Me-“what?? Forreal?”
Dusty-“Yeah, these things can tip over when you’re moving heavy stuff, and the only thing that saves you from dying is the bar behind you and the seatbelt. I’ve known people that have died from not wearing their belt and the tractor rolls onto them.”
Me-“The f$&k!? You tell me this NOW!?“

…I did it guys. And in the dark😂👊🏻👌🏻. Buckle up for safety.

Good night.

One thing we worked on this weekend was putting the dahlias to bed.

I’m going to overwinter them a couple different ways and see how it all works (since I killed all but one of my dahlia plants last season, I haven’t overwintered dahlias before🤪…maybe I should just blame my first flower farmer season dahlia death fiasco on the Spring tsunamis and not myself but I digress).

I’m digging up some tubers that I want to divide and increase stock on and also will be seeing how the rest overwinter in the raised beds with some added protection from the cold.

If it all works out, you guys may be seeing some dahlia plant starts for sale next Spring with some other fun new things too! As long as I don’t kill it all😆.

These were the last dahlias that and I harvested before frostmas. They look like slimy brown husks now. So cool😂

What are your fave colors that we grew this past season!?

Big box of dried goodies off to for them to use for an event today!

I’m planning on dedicating more field space next year to dried flower production. And I’m super jazzed about it.
