Life in the United States is a little wild right now, no matter your political affiliations. Our flowers are here to make you feel better šŸ’ā˜ŗļø We are going to do everything we can to keep our prices at a fair cost because flowers should be accessible to all. One thing we know for sure is that local flowers will be a whole lot cheaper than any of the blooms being flown in internationally. All the more reason to shop local!

While all of this (*gestures frantically to the world around us*) was predictable and inevitable since the day of our presidential elections, please bear with us as we navigate the soon-to-be imposed tariffs. We’re not quite sure how it will affect our bottom line.

Sending you big love during these difficult, uncertain times šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ’œ

Every bouquet tells a unique story. Each flower tucked in has been growing through its own challenges which speaks to the couple’s relationship and how their love has grown through the highs and lows. The type of flowers tells you the season that they’re getting married in and relays the season of life they’re embarking upon. The colors, the varieties, the size, the style is all a reflection of what the couple decided is important. It shows how they’ve worked together as a team to best represent their love. Making a bouquet is something we take seriously around here (don’t worry we still have fun!). Because we know it’s a symbol of the relationship the couple has built and is a testament of their love going forward.

Today is the last day of March which means it’s the final day of our Local Women Spotlight series (don’t worry we’ll workshop the name for next year šŸ˜‚). We want to highlight a local badass who just recently opened up her business, . Natalie is a hair stylist, cosmetologist, and esthetician - she’s truly doing it all.

Her new salon is in Ketchum, and uses Davine products. We love this because this Italian company is B Corp certified which means they’re meeting extremely high standards of social and environmental quality while being transparent and accountable about the ingredients in their products.

Natalie’s Salon opened in October after the closing of Mane Muse (her former employer). She loves taking on new clients, creating stunning looks for bridal customers, and truly wants everyone to look and feel their best.

When she’s not hustling in her studio, you can find Natalie cooking alongside her partner or out enjoying Idaho’s beauty with her blue heeler, Louie. And if you need a new look or want to support a growing business in the valley, contact Natalie through her Instagram! I promise her work is stunning - I’ve never been happier with my hair!

As Women’s History Month slows to a close, we want to recognize another local farmer badass, ! Kelsey and her mom, Marna, own and operate the flower farm .buttercup.

Like us, they grow a large portion of their crops for local florists to subsidize the amount of flowers shipped into our valley. We all know how huge the impact imported flowers have on our environment. Which is why Kelsey and Marna prioritize sustainable and ecological practices on their small family farm that resides just north of Hailey. And all arrangements for weddings, events, and daily deliveries are sourced only from their farm or other local farmers (like us!). They also passionately support the movement due the amount of toxins and microplastics floral foam puts into our water system and food.

When Kelsey isn’t farming, she’s living her double life as a bartender at Roundhouse. This is probably where you know her from! She also loves getting into shenanigans with her family, enjoying our picturesque, wild backyard, and lounging with friends.

If you see Kelsey out and about, give her a wave! And thank her for her extensive efforts to leave our world a little bit better.

It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for another Local Woman Spotlight for ! Today I’d like to introduce you to . She’s an incredibly talented lady who owns . The woman who does all the projects, all the jobs with a permanent smile and good attitude. She truly defies gravity.

Megan is a fantastic singer, performer, fitness coach at , and yellow lab owner. She comes from the world of theater production which influences her business on a daily basis. Megan Mahoney Creative is a wedding planning, coordination, and flower preservation hub. She’s the lady you want in your corner when it comes to planning an event because she’s organized, thorough yet brings all the joy and energy to an arduous process. Heck, Megan even loves spreadsheets! You need this girl on your team.

The floral preservation became her expertise after she took home the flowers from her grandmother’s funeral. Instead of throwing them into the trash, Megan turned them into sentimental keepsakes. These are the details and pure heart you’ll find within each conversation with Megan. We cannot recommend her enough!

Today I saw the daffodils and tulips begin to emerge from the ground! One of my favorite things to imagine is all of our fall-planted bulbs (tulips, daffodils, eremurus, muscari) choreographing and planning all winter long for the spring performance of a lifetime. And this stage of growth they’re stretching and putting on their costumes. We’re almost ready to see the show!

If you want front row tickets to this show, get your Spring CSA soon! Our March Spring Celebration sale is still happening until the end of the month.

Thanks as always to my old man Gunner for being such a good model šŸ˜

This week’s Local Women Spotlight is shining upon ! Brooke is the epitome of badassery. She is transitioning a large chunk of land on her family farm in Bellevue () from degraded and compacted horse pastures back into regenerative forestry. This is an intensive and extensive job that focuses on rehabilitating the soil and establishing native plants.

Brooke also produces a variety of vegetables, nuts, herbs, and cut flowers. Her underlying goal is to provide a demonstration of ways agriculture can combat climate change, improve biodiversity, and protect water quality while growing her community nutrient dense food.

She’s proud to be working the land with farm co-manager Mindy Rider. Brooke also takes deep pleasure in debunking traditional gender roles.

Please give her a follow and find her at the farmers markets or at their farm stand this summer!

Todays’s Local Women Spotlight is ! Lori is an outdoor enthusiast, fellow dog lover, and the owner of the amazing skincare company . She firmly believes that skincare shouldn’t be harsh and filled with words you cannot pronounce, let alone not know what they are. Every bottle of Lua skincare is entirely plant-based and Lori does her best to source them ethically and regionally. Each product is presented in sustainable packaging and is cruelty-free. A portion of Lua’s profits go towards , an incredible move to save the only planet we have.

As huge fans of Lori and Lua, you’ll never find us without her incredible Sol Serum after a long day in the sun. And the Glow Dust is my personal favorite exfoliant on the planet. Learn more about Lori and her fabulous products on Lua’s website.

It’s Women’s History Month! As a small business owned and run by a bunch of badass women, this is one of our favorite months to honor. Throughout March we will be featuring awesome local women and their businesses. If you want to nominate someone you admire that lives in the Wood River Valley area, please send us their info and why you admire them.

And to and . We know you completely deleted this holiday, along with Black and Indigenous History Months from your calendars in the dead of night. We see your cowardice and call out your bu****it. You can try to pretend you’re ’protecting’ women but all you’re doing is bending a knee to fascists. This will only make it easier for them to make headway with their wicked plans for all people. Do better.

ā€¼ļø Long Post About You Ahead ā€¼ļø

I’ve been mulling over the concept of community a lot lately. As the bad news and political onslaught ramp up each week, the more I lean on my people around me. But oftentimes I feel so very alone in the constant barrage of terrible things happening in the US and across the globe.

As I look out at the wonderful people who support my farm, I realize that our relationship is a bit transactional. You buy the flowers I grow. Can community be built in transactions? Maybe. But when something terrible happens, I don’t see us reaching out to each other for support. Which signals to me that this community of flower lovers either don’t realize that’s an option, don’t feel safe doing so or have sturdier communities around them.

So what can I do to strengthen and solidify this community? I’ve always wanted to provide a space place for those feeling misunderstood, left out, or unwanted. Asking you to buy more flowers isn’t actually helping us build trust. So PLEASE. Reach out if you have any ideas on how to gather people around my flowers, plants, ideas of gardening, whatever. And I’ll begin to grow a place we can be together.

Check the stories for ideas I’ve already begun to mull around.
