We're excited to welcome back trumpeter Cyrus Nabipoor to the Jazz Center for our first concert of 2025: this Wednesday, January 8th at 6:30pm.

A distinctive voice both on the horn and in his songwriting, Cyrus’ singular sound has garnered him international acclaim. He has been a featured festival artist at PDX Jazz, Cathedral Park, Montavilla Jazz, New Orleans French Quarter, and Chicago Instigation.

You can expect an eclectic mix of genres and moods, but melody reigns supreme as Nabipoor balances focused clarity with fearless exploration on the horn.

ANOTHER FAIRHAVEN BUSINESS BREAK-IN-

From Cami at Whimsey (corner of 10th and Harris)

Last night around 3:40am Whimsey was broken into. The two thieves broke the glass in our front door to gain entry. I am hoping someone may have footage of one or two men walking around the district between 3:00 and 4am. On my camera, it appears they went down Harris upon leaving but came from above when arriving. Its believed that they may have come from the parking lot behind skylarks (the K9 tracked and lost the scent near Skylarks) and just made a loop past my shop. They may not have been together until they came in, so please check for anyone walking by your businesses/homes between 3-4am. They were outside my shop for about 20 minutes before they actually got in.

Please, please, if you have cameras, check your footage. With the other break-ins and attempts, it seems we have some bad people frequenting our district.

1- black hoodie with small white writing in middle of chest, red work gloves, baggy jeans with "fancy" rear pockets, yellow/tan work boots and black covid mask.

2 - plain black hoodie, white shirt hanging out below hoodie, baggy jeans, grey & dk blue running shoes, white covid mask. Carrying a mustard/brown duffel

Just a reminder that the FireHouse Cafe will close at 12:30 today and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day so our staff can enjoy quality time with family and friends.

We will be open normal hours 7:00-5:30 on Friday and then roll into the Holiday Season with our annual Holiday Crafters Market on Saturday Nov.30th from 1:00-6:00. Stop by and check out all the locally made gifts and our annual Yule Log.

Monday Music Nov. 25th at the FireHouse 3:30-5:00. Singer-songwriter Bob Paltrow is a classically trained keyboardist, performing originals and covers including rock, soul, pop and hiphop. Paltrow’s band Cats Like Us rocks the Whatcom and Skagit Valley music scenes.

This event is not ticketed. However, cash donations of appreciation are gladly accepted.
