So thankful for the most productive third growing season in Central Texas!⭐️❤️⭐️

This is my fifth year growing specialty cut flowers and it brings me joy to cultivate flowers and create bouquets. There has been some rough patches with the past two seasons and extreme heat along with less than beneficial bugs, and unfavorable soil conditions.
However, remediation of the soil in the gardens with mulch and compost is turning the storyline into hope with a splash of resilience.
Another turning point was adding native Texas plants that attract pollinators and beneficial insects.
Celebrating the opportunity to cultivate flowers and bring beauty and hope to others with specialty cut locally grown flowers.

It’s time to nourish seedlings and plant new seeds. We already have Lisianthus growing. Zinnias and Gomphrena seeds will be seeded indoors and be transplanted outside next month as the weather warms.

Looking forward to providing beautiful bouquets later this Spring.

So thankful to have a greenhouse my sweet husband helped to build and secure.

These are Gomphrena flowers I dried after growing them this past summer.

My first experience with these flowers was making leis at the florist I worked for in Hawaii during college.

Gomphrena is wonderful as a fresh flower or dried. It works well as a filler accent or a straight bunch. It is versatile.

As I plant my seeds for 2024, seeing this arrangement from flowers I grew from seed and tubers encourages me to embark on my fifth growing season.

Looking forward to some new projects with the flowers I grow and bringing opportunities for others to enjoy them in my community.

Lisianthus seedlings (plugs) just arrived last evening. Looking forward to planting them and seeing them bloom this summer.

The white I previously grew and had great success with them. Hoping these will grow just as well.

This Poppy bloom I grew in a previous season is inspiring me to try some varieties this season. Stay tuned in stories for the process.

Hopefully it will be dry enough tomorrow with little wind to direct seed some heirloom Poppy seeds from my Grandmother aka Nana, as well as a few newer seed packets I have.

Mr. D picked up a large order of soil amendments I ordered online yesterday. He’s my hero! 💪❤️

This lovely Poppy mural can be viewed in Georgetown, Texas where they have a annual Poppy festival in April.

Just reminiscing on how my Nana grew Red Poppies like these by her front door and it was always a joy to see them when they were in bloom.

Hoping to have some Poppy blooms this season!

Yes, I waited for the seeds from this Celosia flower, in order to save and plant them in 2024.

Growing Dahlias has been one of my favorite flowers to grow. There’s a difference in the process from my farm in southern Idaho to my gardens in central Texas. It has been a huge learning curve and the losses of many plants have been far greater the past two years in Texas, than the previous two in Idaho where not a single Dahlia plant was lost. Continuing to grow in central Texas and learning to be resilient. Looking forward to growing and arranging flowers in 2024! Cheers to resilience!!!💪🍃
