Wondering what's black and brown and crawling all over? It's our new squad of mealybug destroyers! These pint-sized beetles are part of our beneficial insect program, set to revolutionize pest control in our Orchid Conservatory.

Mealybugs, those sneaky plant-eating insects, are no match for our tiny heroes. These beetles are exclusively dedicated to feasting on mealybugs, ensuring their populations stay in check. It's a natural, eco-friendly way to maintain a balanced ecosystem inside our conservatory.

By introducing these mealybug destroyers, we're creating a harmonious environment without relying on harsh chemicals. It's a win-win – effective pest control that's gentle on the plants and the planet.

We're thrilled to share some feathery news from our beautiful garden. Our dedicated volunteers have been keeping a watchful eye on our bluebird boxes, and the results are in! 🙌⁠
⁠
This year, a total of 166 vibrant Bluebirds took their brave leap into the world from our nesting boxes. That's an incredible 10 more than last year!⁠
⁠
These little ones had quite the adventure, with a whopping 206 eggs laid. While 40 eggs faced some challenges, the remaining fledglings soared into the sky, filling our garden with their joyful melodies.⁠
⁠
Of our 50 nesting boxes, 15 were used once, 19 twice, and 5 three times, creating a bustling Bluebird community. Although 11 boxes remained empty, the overall outcome was nothing short of fantastic! 🐦⁠

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers who diligently monitored these bluebird homes throughout nesting season. Your dedication and passion for our garden's wildlife truly make a difference. 🙏⁠

The time has come to bid adieu to our enchanting Butterfly Bungalow for this season, but you have one more week to experience the wonder of these graceful creatures up close before their rehoming on Sunday, September 3! 🦋

The Butterfly Bungalow will be open this Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am - 3 pm and we will start to re-home the butterflies into the Garden on Sunday at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm at the Levine Pavilion. Keep in mind, the Butterfly Bungalow will be closed for 15-20 minutes before each session to gather our fluttering friends for their grand adventure!

Get ready to be part of the fluttering fiesta as our butterflies take their journey into the skies above. It will be a day filled with awe, wonder, and the beauty of nature's delicate dancers taking flight!
