One of my favorite projects lately was decorating for a 50th Wedding celebration. Art and Shirley had gotten married in Pearl Harbor so we thought it would be fun to decorate with a bit of a tropical vibe.

A month ago I had the fun adventure of going to Brazil to see an exchange student that had lived with us in 2020 and also meet her family. I also got to attend her college graduation party which was a lot of fun. While there I was the typical florist and I enjoyed seeing all the flowers and greenery. We also got to visit a little floral shop which was neat. One day we collected flowers and greens at their farm and then came home and did some flower pounding to create a long lasting floral piece of art. Helen plans to use it on her table. Flower pounding is a fun way to decorate curtains, tote bags, table runners and things like that. It would also be a very fun way to preserve some of your wedding flowers. This would work especially well if you have colorful flowers (and wouldn't work it you only have white). It is something that you could do on your own or something that I would be glad to do for you as part of your wedding package. Let me know if that is something you would like me to do for you!

I love it when Brides have been scouring the internet for inspiration photos. When we get together for a consultation I like to talk through the pictures and find out what they like about each picture and what they don't like so I can create something one of a kind just for them that incorporates the best parts of each inspiration picture. When I read that the 2024 trend for wedding flowers was going to be colorful, I got pretty excited. I love it when couple have fun adding color to their weddings through flowers. It is so bright and cheery. In my opinion it really makes it look like a celebration. Enjoy some pictures of colorful flowers from other years.

Packing up flowers this morning to go to an event when the temps were below zero was quite a chore. I am glad that the majority of weddings up here are when the weather is a bit warmer. Later on the boxes I used for transport were well enjoyed when my Grandsons came over.

Congratulations to Hannah and C**t who got married on a chilly day a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully not quite as chilly as this one. The flower color didn't photograph correctly as the roses were more of a rust orange. Either way they were pretty!

This past week I arranged dried flowers for a wedding. Congratulations to Toby and Isabel who got married on Saturday. I have not done all dried flowers/grasses for a wedding before so it was a fun experience. I admit that in the months leading up to the wedding you could find me eyeing any dried wildflowers or grasses on my land or my friends land. A bike ride over to my sister's not long before the wedding added some lovely dried yarrow to the collection to use. I did order some things in as well but it was fun to use local stuff for a lot of it.

Congratulations to Liz and Garrett who got married last week. I had the privilege of doing flowers for them. It was a busy weekend for me as I also had a recital for my music students on Sunday and my Grandson was with me for the weekend. He was a pretty fun helper. I am so grateful for this beautiful life I get to live. I love getting to help make weddings beautiful with flowers .

At that point it is time to pay the deposit. The rest is due 3 weeks before the wedding. Danielle and Jeremy's flowers this past September were just my style with Iris, Lavender Roses, rustic elements like birthbark and wood rounds. It was so fun to do. I think it turned out pretty nice too. The Bride liked it a lot too which of course is always my goal!

I am going to try to get a few more pictures from this fall and summer shared. These are from Pam and Scott's wedding at Ruttgers in September. I loved working with them and talking through their vision for the day. I really wish I could have taken a better photo of the circle arch. It was beautiful. A fun element was the yellow rose (of Texas) that they had in just a few places which had special meaning to them.
