A grand celebration of live music in Bend! The BEND ROOTS REVIVAL is an authentic grassroots community event. Since 2006 Bend Roots has grown in the spirit of music education, and is designed to help cultivate the soul of our community. Now more than ever music and arts are vital to our wellbeing. This season, seven sound stages, distributed around the town of Bend, will host 80 live streamed perf

ormances. We are creating socially distanced environments for the bands to perform on outdoor stages, at Worthy Brewing, Silver Moon, The Cosmic Depot, Avid Cider and Spoken Moto. Revivalists are encouraged to tune-in to any performance on any stage via the live-stream feeds at http://www.bendroots.net. Occupancy at each venue will be limited to comply with Covid19 safety protocols. Net proceeds from merchandise sales, sponsorship and donations at this event grow the Bend Roots Revival, and support The Bend Roots Education Project—which partners with local schools to provide art, music, and drama classes, and creates jobs for local teaching-artists. BIG THANK YOU to members of the Bend Roots Mentoring Collective who shared their talents, perspectives, and processes with REALMS high school music students this past week. Everyone who participated expanded their musical consciousness—instructors and students alike. Thank you Justin LeBart for your insights on the value of “creative cross-training” and for bringing your Victor Wooten “Bass and Nature Camp” experience back from Nashville to us! Thank you Lande for welcoming us into your heartfelt songwriting process and yogic approach to music. Thank you Dr. Wendi Wompler for making clarinet so cool (for shredding it) and for demystifying "odd" time signatures through a study of Balkan, Eastern European, and Middle Eastern music and dance. Finally, thank you Eric Leadbetter for keeping it real, for showing us what it takes to have a vocation in music—without losing your mind, your relationships, and most importantly, your soul. The highlight of the week of course were the JAMS that we got into and explored with the whole group. Most impressive to me as an instructor was the way REALMS students supported each other in the musical conversation, WITH TOP-NOTCH LISTENING SKILLS, and in doing so allowed the music itself to lead all of us. Great job REALMS. Y’all ROCK! And, as always: gods bless Sun Ra!

We have a packed week with three shows guaranteed to entertain you. Open Mic Monday, Jongleur Gems on Wednesday with Eric Leadbetter and Mark Quon in the round, and finally Young Guns on Thursday with Jacob Isaiah Nelson and Mason Coats also in the round.

All events from 6-8pm. Our summer series is coming to an end so come on down and enjoy some great music in the Yard.

We had a blast upstairs in the Tap Room this weekend. Here is from the final act. Many thanks to Deschutes Brewery for providing the venue once again.

Maria Jackson performed at 6:30 on Sunday 9-15-24 at Deschutes Brewery. We gave her the whole hour and she rocked our sox off!
