But I'm PASSIONATE to my core about health and well being. In taking care of your body because I KNOW that given the chance your body will take care of you.

I was horrified to hear that we are ingesting so many microplastics! Truly disturbing. And of course I'm trying to navigate a new path without using plastics.
Do you have some solutions to replacing plastic products in your daily life? Please share!

If you've been paying attention to the Lafayette-Grant County WI Scanner page, many fire departments have been out this week. Conditions are abnormally dry this winter. We ask you all to please refraine from burning!

Brush piles can wait.
Dont throw cigaretts out the window.
If you burn garbage, please stop. All municipalities in our fire district have accommodations for trash, please utilize it.

👩‍🍳Hello February!!! 🤯🥴😵‍💫 2025 is full speed ahead so hang on tight!
😋Here's the delicious goodness from Kelli's Place for the first week of February 😋

🥗 🐔 Crunchy Chinese Chicken Salad ~ assorted lettuces, cabbage, breaded chicken, Mandarin oranges, carrot, sweet peppers and chow mein noodles. Choice of roasted sesame dressing, or Ranch. $13

🐷 Pork Stir fry~ I start with thinly sliced pork tenderloin, add oriental veggies and a silky homemade stir fry sauce. Served with rice and a fortune cookie. $13

🐔🧀🥦🍲 Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Soup ~ this is a fantastic soup! It is made with whole chicken breasts simmered in chicken stock. Once they are tender, they are shredded and added back into the stock with lots of creamy cheese and Broccoli. $15 quart.

🎃🍰 Pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting....😋😋😋 what can I say? It's irresistible. Put the 'O' in yum-o and treat yourself!

Last night I attended the fun, informative, and very delicious Galena LitFest: a Night in Tita Rosie's Kitchen Filipino Inspired Dinner.

This evening was sponsored by the Galena Public Library District and was hosted at The Cording Event Barn at Hawk Valley Retreat and Cottages.

The Author that inspired this evening is Mia P. Manansala of the Tita Rosie's Kitchen series.
The Book Group Sips Nibbles and Novels ☕️🍰📖 read 2 of books in 2022. (Adobo and Arsenic, Homicide and Halo Halo)

The meal started with Filipino Inspired teas, both were very good!
Then a Starter Plate- the Lumpia was my favorite!
The Buffet dinner was fantastic!! My favorites were the Filipino Mango and tomato salad and Tita Rosie's Adobo Chicken.
The Pandesal-Filipino Dinner Rolls were extremely tasty, especially with the Coconut jam.
Special thanks to Jim and John, Hawk Valley Proprietors for creating an amazing meal in such a beautiful setting.

The Q&A with Mia, the author, was quite informative. She spoke of her personal life, writing books, publishing and her upcoming books.

The evening was very enjoyable and I'd like to thank 2 of the Sips Nibbles and Novels Book Group members, Bridget and Ronda, for accompanying me and their wonderful friendship. We had a great time!

🥗 La Scala Copy Cat Salad- La Scala is an Italian restaurant in California. Supposedly the Kardashians are fond of the restaurant and this salad! It is a Chopped Salad with Romaine, garbanzo beans, salami, roasted turkey, cucumbers and mozzarella. The signature dressing is oil and red wine vinegar, seasonings and a bit of parmesan. Ranch also available. Gf $14

🐔 Arroz Con Pollo- is a Latin American Chicken and Rice that has been a favorite of mine for many years. It starts with a tasty herb and vegetable blend (sofrito) that is added to the rice AND made into a very tasty dipping sauce. The rice has green olives and capers and a mild yet tasty spice blend. Chicken thighs and the rice are slow cooked to infuse all the wonderful flavors. Gf $14

🍲 Beef Barley Soup- rich beef stock with tender beef, vegetables and Barley. $14 quart

🍲 Split Pea Soup- slowly simmered split peas with flavorful ham and celery, onion, and carrots. Gf $12 quart

🌼 Morning Glory Overnight Oats- Oatmeal, flaxseed, almond milk, bananas, unsweetened applesauce, carrots, honey, matcha and cinnamon with crunchy walnuts to Sprinkle on top. A great grab and go breakfast right out of the refrigerator! Gf $3.50.

👩‍🍳😋 Hello!!! I'm having 1 of those weeks where I'm meeting a new adventure every day...and some of the adventures are a bit wonky. Mother Nature is playing hard with those mechanicals, you know?

Anyway, I hope all of you are doing well in this cold and snow.
