Why don’t I offer Valentine’s Day flowers?

I’ve had a few inquiries about Valentine’s Day flowers 💌 and as much as I wish I could put together some beautiful arrangements for your loved ones, it simply is not in my business structure. Let me explain why!

🩷 My business model is to provide home grown flowers. To have flowers for Valentine’s Day I’d have to outsource & have them shipped, which means they wouldn’t be grown in Arkansas soil, & likely not even from our country.

🩷 It’s too cold for anything to bloom currently! My specialty is summer annuals & our last frost isn’t until April.

🩷 I’ve felt called to live with the seasons, rather than work against them. Mother Earth rests in winter, wakes up in spring, & blooms in summer. How beautiful is it to live in a state that experiences the full spectrum of seasons?

🩷 As nature is still hibernating, I’m using this time to go within, to rest, to spend time with my family. But rest assured, I’m also spending great energy coming up with new garden plans!

Maybe someday I’ll catch a wild hair & dip my toes into full service floristry. But for right now I’m loving the phase I’m in 💐

Happy 2025! While we prepare our home for the first snow & ice forecast of the year, I can’t help but daydream about warmer days ahead 🌞

We have big ideas about the 2025 growing season! I’d love to continue to sell flowers from our farmstand, but I’d like to introduce some new things as well.

We’re considering an occasional You-Pick setup, where we invite you into our garden to select & cut your own flowers to take home.

I’m also researching the logistics of a CSA flower subscription. CSA, community supported agriculture, connects you, the community, with me, the producer. For a flat price at the beginning of the season you can get a weekly flower arrangement filled with whatever is blooming that week.

Another idea we’ve had is a gift certificate program! You can buy a bouquet coupon to give to a loved one, & they can come by the farmstand to pick their bouquet & put the coupon in the cash box.

Overall, we hope that 2025 is filled with flowers & connection with our local community.

Hello from our home base in Asheville, NC. Some of you may not be aware that Eden Brothers is located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, where last week we shockingly found ourselves in the path of hurricane Helene. Our colleagues are like family, and we, as well as our entire Western North Carolina community, have never experienced such a devastating natural disaster.
The outpouring of support from customers near and far has been amazing—letters of encouragement, food and water deliveries, much-needed supplies, and so much more. With all of our staff safe (yes!!) we are happy to share that we've started opening back up our operations. It's a little slow-going but we plan to be back in full swing very soon!

You have been the bright spot in the midst of our grief. Our friends in gardening know better than anyone that together we will continue to create beauty, nourishment, and inspiration. We will be recovering long into the future, and knowing that you're out there digging in the soil and planting our seeds is such a comfort.

When we arrived back at our warehouse for the first time after the storm, this little sprout growing out of the cracked concrete floor was there to greet us. ❤️

Aaaaaaand, that’s a wrap!

We’ve made the difficult decision to go ahead & close out this growing season. We had really hoped to continue up until the first frost, but the critters are just too destructive & hungry this time of year. They filled their bellies with all our seedlings & had a grand time tearing up the rows. That’s just nature! Sometimes you can’t outsmart it, but I sure am gonna try to next year so we can enjoy the flowers a little longer.

We’ll be cooking up some new ideas during this break & planning to come back bigger & better next spring. Thanks so much for all the support! 💐🌻

Oops, more life happened & we’ve been a little preoccupied! Continued house construction, a surgery for Haley with a tough recovery, back to school prep for our kiddos, & a death in the family—we’ve had a lot on our plate!

Thanks for your patience & understanding with our lengthier response times for custom order requests. We hope to have our farmstand stocked & also are brainstorming teacher gifts for back to school! We love our community & are endlessly thankful!

Where have we been?!

We’re starting the first phase of a house renovation, so we’ve been out of our house for the last few days staying with our parents. Don’t worry, the flowers are still getting watered & the house is still looked after!

We should be back by the end of the week & will be back into the swing of things 💐

Meet Mitch McVey!

Heavy Petal Co. is Haley’s brain child, but it wouldn’t be possible without Mitch. He’s always happy to pull weeds, move heavy bags of soil, mow around all the rows of flowers, & take care of whatever is needed.

We met in July of 2016 & have been inseparable ever since. He’s truly my best friend & we do everything together! We have two beautiful kiddos—he gave me the most amazing 11-year-old girl in the whole world as my stepdaughter. Together we have a two year old little guy who brings so much excitement & joy to our world.

Flowers have always played a big part in our story. From the time we started dating he’s gotten me countless fresh bouquets just because. The bolo tie he’s wearing in this picture was made from preserved flowers from my wedding bouquet. We have our daughter’s flower crown from our wedding day pressed & preserved that hangs in our home.

If you see Mitch around be sure to say hi!
