Late night thoughts...
Reminiscing of when I first called my good friends Chad and Katherine Ross about buying their old building. My vision was to create a beautiful, affordable venue for people to celebrate all walks of life right here in Berwick. I hoped and prayed that this would be the beginning of downtown Berwick coming back. I could see it perfectly in my head and then on paper, all the way to the architect's drawings. Well, here I am 4 years later questioning this line of work. My biggest cross to bear in the venue industry is cost. I have no venue to compare to around here that is just a venue. We are not a restaurant, gym, civic center, hotel, barn, auditorium, long distance away, acres of land, or whatever choices there are out there. We are simply a special old building renovated to rent that comes with a lot of character, history, and amenities in downtown Berwick.
Our expenses to run it for a day, especially in the slowest days of summer are crazy. A/C, insurance, a loan, cable, alarm system, cleaning products, paper products for restrooms and kitchen area, lawn care, exterminator, and licenses to name a few. I am not wanting anyone to feel sorry for me, I would just like to shed some light on our pricing. And to top it off, all of the damages we have incurred from leaking is let's just say, "hindering rentals".
We are definitely taking bookings for showers, parties, receptions, holiday parties, and anything else. It doesn't look perfect outside because of the damage, but please give me a shot at helping you make your vision come to life. I would love to get back to loving owning a venue, it's been a dream of mine for so long. I have witnessed some of the most beautiful celebrations at our little venue and would love to continue:)
So, when considering choosing a place for your event, please consider renting The Old Building. I am very flexible and willing to work with any challenges that may be a concern.
