Our Story
“Harpo” was a nickname I had in high school -- I played the concert harp. (And yes, I am older than Oprah and was called Harpo before she ever came on the scene!). I retired from active harp playing in 2018 -- arthritis in my hands, as well as the weight of my harp, made it difficult for me to perform. BUT, my arts and crafts business, Harpo Originals, is still going strong. I admit I’ve succumbed to an electric die cutting machine now but I still make handmade jewelry and handmade greeting cards for all occasions. Jewelry ranges from $5 to $50 while greeting cards are priced between $3 & $6. 20% of all my gross sales is donated to military charities as well. I ”hawk my wares” at a few craft fairs during the year but you can call or email me if you want to see anything. And if you want a craft show at your business or home, feel free to call me -- I’m happy to do “one woman” shows (and 20% of net sales still would go to a military charity).
Guess I should explain why I donate to military charities and why my prices are kept low. I charge enough to give me funds to buy moe craft supplies and to make a donation to a military charity. I have four grand-nephews in the military and am on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Medal of Honor Grove. The photo above is me and my harp “Diabl0” at a fundraiser for the Medal of Honor Grove in Valley Forge -- with me is Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Francis Currey.
