The Holiday Homes Tour always leaves my heart full and a smile on my face—not because of the ooohs and ahhhs over the Christmas lights, but because I know we’re doing exactly what we’re meant to do with our home: sharing it with others. A quick walk-through to see our decorations for my favorite time of year is so much more than that. It’s a chance to feel the season deep in your heart and to truly take in the beauty of what we celebrate because of our Lord and Savior.
Leading up to this day, I prayed that you would feel Him as you walked through our doors and that you’d see Him reflected in the lights. It takes a lot to prepare a whole house for something like this, and I’ve always felt led to participate each time I’ve had a junior. But when the thought crept in that maybe I shouldn’t do it this year, Alivia stepped right up and said, “Let’s just do it!” Our kids know how much I love this, but they also know the work behind it. She was a huge help with the decorating this year. She’s definitely got the eye for it!
We all know how a clean, fully decorated home makes us feel—like we’re truly home, like we’re at peace, and like the coming family time will be just a little less stressful because everything is in its place. That’s not always the case around here, but I’m setting a goal to decorate for every holiday this year. According to Alivia, that means the basement finally gets cleaned out too!
So here’s to decorating not only for you and all your events in the coming year, but also to keeping our own home a little more homey year-round. I’ll keep you posted as we go—mostly to keep myself accountable. 😉
Thank you to everyone who helped me get ready, and thank you to everyone who came out and supported this junior class fundraiser. Your love, encouragement, and presence mean more than you know.
