Though you still need a fishing license, it's a good deal...🐟

Through a partnership with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the American Sportfishing Association, and DCNR, the public can borrow free equipment to try fishing while at certain state parks.

All fishing regulations must be followed, and those 16 and older need to have a valid Pennsylvania Fishing license.

🌕 July’s Full Moon is Here – The Buck Moon! 🦌⚡🌾

Tonight’s full moon is known as the Buck Moon, named for the time of year when male deer begin growing their new antlers—a powerful symbol of growth and preparation in the wild. 🦌🌿

This timing is especially meaningful for hunters, as it signals the gradual lead-up to hunting season. Bucks are starting to develop the antlers they’ll carry into the fall—each rack telling a story of age, nutrition, and survival. 🏹🌲

Rooted in Native American tradition, the name “Buck Moon” was used to track seasonal changes by the phases of the moon. It’s also known as the:

Thunder Moon, for July’s booming summer storms 🌩️

Hay Moon, marking the peak of hay harvesting season 🌾

Take a minute tonight to look up, soak in the moonlight, and appreciate the cycles of nature that guide both wildlife and those of us who follow it.

🎣🐟 Exciting News from the SVSC Trout Nursery! 🐟🎣

This morning, 2,850 vibrant and healthy trout fingerlings arrived safely at the Spring Valley Sportsmen's Club nursery — and they’re some of the largest we’ve ever seen at this stage! These little swimmers are already showing great energy — a promising start to the strong season ahead.

We’re proud to be raising such beautiful trout:
🐟 Brown Trout
🐟 Rainbow Trout
🐟 Palomino Trout (a type of Golden Rainbow Trout)

Thanks to the dedication of our Trout Team and members, these fish will be carefully raised for 2026 stocking efforts in our local streams. Stay tuned for updates as they grow!

🐟Club Work Day + Fingerling Arrival 🐟
Join us tomorrow, Tuesday 07/08/2025 at 9:00 AM for some wood splitting and general clean-up around the Spring Valley Sportsmen's Club.

🎉 Bonus Alert! Our fingerlings will be arriving and placed into the nursery bays "sometime" after 10 AM. A great chance to be part of something special!
