From its beginning, Mountain Empire Community College recognized the importance of preserving and promoting the unique art and music of the region. In 1972, the first celebration of mountain culture was realized with the establishment of Home Craft Days. Since that time, the festival has been an integral part of Mountain Empire Community College’s longstanding commitment to serve our community. No

w celebrating its 42nd year, MECC’s Home Craft Days features musicians and artisans from throughout Southwest Virginia, East Tennessee, and Eastern Kentucky. Demonstrations of weaving, pottery making, grist milling, wood crafting, basket weaving, broom making, quilting, tatting and much more are offered, along with musical performances throughout the three- day event. The 2013 Home Craft Days celebration will be held October 18-20 on the campus of Mountain Empire Community College. These are called Honeysuckle Cabin Roundsweep and Antlersweep. They were made and donated by John and Susan Alexander.

We will be raffling them off at this years Home Craft Days Festival. People can purchase tickets during the festival at the information tent and the drawing will be Sunday afternoon.

The Alexander’s are craft demonstrators at HCD you can see them make these brooms and purchase one of you own at their tent at HCD 2024.

Show Dates and Hours October 18th– 20th, 2024 The hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Please join us tonight for the 52nd Annual Home Craft Days kickoff concert! Dough and Joe and Mr. Kettlecorn will be offered to guests at no cost from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Black Bear BBQ will be offered as a paid meal choice. Come out and have a great time with great food! Concert starts at 6:00 p.m.
