Just a quick few tips to keep in mind when you receive fresh flowers.

Fresh Flower Care – We hope these flowers have brightened your day! Here are our top tips to keep your flowers blooming for longer.

Tip #1
Ensure your vase is clean
Make sure your vase has been thoroughly washed as bacteria will lessen their life.

Tip #2
Trim the stems
Remove the packaging and use a sharp knife or scissors to trim 2” off the stems at a 45-degree angle if your flowers arrive without a vase.

Tip #3
Remove leaves
Strip the lower leaves that fall under the water line in the vase

Tip #4
Use fresh room temperature water
Fill vase 2/3 with water. Replenish water level , do not allow level to get too low and change with clean water every 2 -3 days.

Tip #5
Keep in cool area
Enjoy your flowers in a cooler area away from direct sunlight, bright light, or ripening produce.

SECRETS TO KEEP YOUR CUT FLOWERS LASTING LONGER

There's nothing more exciting than being surprised with (or treating yourself to…) a fresh bouquet of flowers. There's also nothing quite as disappointing as watching the rapid and relentless wilting of said bouquet. Here are a few tips to preserve fresh-cut flowers so that you can enjoy them for longer.

Cut Stems Diagonally
This classic trick is a must before arranging blooms. By cutting the stems diagonally, you increase the surface area at the bottom of the stem, and therefore also the amount of water the flower can drink up. Re-trim the stems every few days for fresh cuts that will help maximize the amount of water they drink.

Check and Change Water Daily
This is another obvious but necessary step. The water will get cloudy quickly (read: full of bacteria, yuck). It's important to change it every day to ensure flowers get the clean water they need to stay healthy.

Get the Temperature Right
Keep fresh flowers from direct sun and other heat sources. To take it one step further (and make flowers last extra-long), consider putting the arrangement in the fridge overnight.

Remove Foliage
Remove from the stems any leaves that may be at the water line or in the water where they may cause faster bacterial growth and affect the life of the flower. Check for dead or rotting leaves or flower petals daily and remove them so they don’t spread bacteria. The water should only contain clean stems.

Use Clean Tools
Cleanliness goes a long way when caring for a floral arrangement. Make sure the knives or scissors you use to cut the stems are clean and sanitized before each use. Dirty tools can introduce bacteria to your blooms. You’ll also want a clean vase to hold your bouquet. Make sure to wash your vase with soap after use to wash away any bacteria build-up.
