Making the Most of the Holidays with Your Dog

The holiday season is filled with excitement, but it can also get busy and stressful for both you and your dog. With travel, guests, and changes in routine, it’s important to keep your dog happy and active during this time. In this post, we’ll share tips for staying active and enjoying the holidays with your furry friend — while keeping the stress low.

Exercise is key for your dog’s happiness, and even though the holidays can get hectic, it’s still important to keep up their physical activity. Here are a few quick ideas:

Daily Walks or Runs
Even with a packed schedule, try to maintain your dog’s daily walks or runs. A quick outing can help burn off energy and provide mental stimulation, so your dog stays calm and happy.

Holiday Games
If time is tight, try playing games indoors like fetch, tug-of-war, or hide-and-seek with treats. These games are a fun way to keep your dog active without needing a lot of space.

Interactive Toys
Interactive toys or puzzle feeders are great for mental stimulation and can tire your dog out, even when you’re busy. They’ll keep your dog engaged while you finish up your holiday tasks.

We know it’s hard to juggle all the things we need to get done this time of year, and our pets can get lost in the shuffle. Take time for them and for you and you’ll both enjoy the holiday season that much more!

We are super excited about our new program here at Billings K9 Coaching: Day School for dogs. 🐺📕

During day school, dogs will follow a structured curriculum. In addition to small group matched play time (2 to 4 dogs), each dog will also receive 2 individual lessons throughout the day.

Dogs that have been in class have enjoyed the heated swim spa, worked on leash pressure, impulse control games, shaping around agility equipment, and a field trip to Ace Hardware. During off leash play, dogs are appropriately matched according to their size and play styles.

The Day School schedule is Monday and Wednesdays from 7:45 am to 5:30 pm with flexibility and half day options. The address is 3645 S 56th St West right off of the frontage road. Single sessions, packages, and gift certificates are available.
