Our Event Center space is an antique barn addition directly attached to our home and Bed & Breakfast. It functions both as a great room/family room for us and our guests, but also can handle up to 45 people for an event. The antique barn that resides inside of the ‘new barn’ was originally located in the nearby town of Brill where it had served as hay storage and a small milking barn since being built in the 1890s. It was taken down piece by piece in 2014 and reconstructed inside of our new space. It even has it’s original overhead hay trolley and an assortment of eclectic farm and Barron County-related artifacts as part of the decor! We added recovered maple flooring and modern windows as well as full insulation, heating and cooling, and electric to make a unique space unlike anything in the Four Corners area.

We would love to host your small intimate wedding, corporate retreat, graduation party, family reunion, quilter’s weekend, or whatever idea you have in mind! Call us for availability, rates and details on planning your next event!

Thank you to all of those hikers that stayed with us over the summer in this crazy season! We loved being a quiet respite location in the country to ease your mind and muscles while enjoying excellent access to the Ice Age Trail.
Our guests this past weekend spent Sunday on the Bear Lake Segment just north and west of us (about a 20 minute drive to the west end of the segment). They did an out-and-back (5.4 mile one-way) of nearly 11 miles and thoroughly enjoyed it! [see the photos below!]

One of the last good days for fall leaf colors and vistas, although the trails around here are still great for a hike anytime. They only saw a couple other hikers the entire day. This Bear Lake Segment along with the Tuscobia Segment and Hemlock Creek Segment are the most accessible trails from our Bed & Breakfast.

If you're looking for a night or two (or more!) to check out some segments in the rural countryside of NW Wisconsin - or just to enjoy a peaceful getaway weekend - consider a stay with us!

13 days from hatch and we have liftoff! Or at least 'fledge-off' - i.e. an empty nest! Sometime today (likely around midday), the nestlings became fledglings. I did locate one in the side yard grass and clover about 30 feet from the nest, the other three were being quiet and probably in one of the many bushy undergrowth areas or in a flowerbed. Mom and Dad were doing their upset/excited calling, but not near the nest like usual as I went to take a picture. Thankfully we've eliminated the feral cats and stray dogs over the last couple years (we're out in the countryside) so the only significant threats are the crows, raccoons, possums, foxes, bobcats, black bears, martins, etc. OK, that's a pretty large list, but they're not all in the yard at once. :-)
Mother Nature takes over at this point and the old 'survival of the fittest' runs the show as usual and necessary.

Well, they're stuffed in there now! I imagine it's a bumpy ride for Mom when she tries sitting on that! And to think they should be on the wing in another week or so.

Risking my neck hairs and more once again, I'm happy to report that the 'four amigos' have their eyes open and beaks in the air! Packed in nicely for Mom and Dad's ease of feeding.

Both Mom and Dad robin were NOT happy with me while getting this family photo! I actually had my hair fluffed with their protective fly-by dive bombs.
The foursome now have their pin feathers and are starting to look like birds...well, at least half-reptilian birds...

The east-facing yard and main porch of the house. The fall season is fully here amongst the hillside orchard, As the remainder of the leaves fall the view down the lake opens up. A great time for a quiet peaceful visit!

Our original,circa 1900, field stone fireplace -fully restored and relined yet retaining it's hand-made charm. The love birds plaque at the top of the stonework are tiles recovered from the hearth. The love birds were inset by previous owners sometime in the 1940s/50s. Cozy fires are a regular feature throughout the fall and winter!

One of the little Powder Rooms (this one near the main entrance in the Barn) has a vintage "sun" framed mirror and an old locker with "stars". Of course there's also an occasional "moon" in the room too.... :-)
