This is just a small snippet of the many things it takes to be a small flower business owner. I am stripping the leaves off of each individual stem. I am not just a flower prepper. I am also a - marketing strategist - event scheduler and planner - designer - employer - accountant - admin - stick-shift driver - 1,000 random small things. Stripping the leaves off of every single stem is just one small part of the job. I do it so my customers have a long-lasting bouquet. Have you ever wondered what this box is in the back of Fern the Ford? It’s actually a cooler! 🤯 When I started this truck a year ago, after doing a few flower events in the heat I knew I needed something to 1. transport the flowers in and 2. keep them cool while they travel and between events. I commissioned my amazing step-dad to help me with this project. If we’re honest he did most of the work, but I measred a few things and cut a few things! Lol. Here’s how the process went: 1. We insulated the inside of the truck bed where the cooler would sit so the weather wouldn’t effect the temp of the box. 2. We built a wooden frame inside the truck bed, then insulated and water-proofed the inside of the frame. At that point, we had an insulated cooler! 3. We then added some deco board to the outside to make it look nice. 4. Added a lid on hinges, and then put tin on the lid to make it look like a cute lil’ house! I put buckets of ice in there, and it keeps the flowers nice and cool until I put them out for display. Does it work perfectly? Well, it’s no Yeti. But it certainly helps! 😁 Shoutout to my step-dad who I couldn’t have done this without, and couldn’t do life without either. 🧡

Well, certainly excuse the way that I look. BUT this is what you’ll see when you stop by Fern the Ford for a fresh bouquet! You hand me all the lovely stems you’ve picked out, and I’ll arrange them for you. To finish, I’ll wrap it up in some cute brown paper and tie it with string and it’s done! Ready to take home or gift to someone special. You could literally drop in right in a vase and call it done. ✅ So, plan to come see us this week!
