Saturday was my first time traveling for a wedding! Little under 7 hours driving in one day, one closed exit making for a back gravel road way, a whole box of "Good & Plenty" and zero pit stops. Needless to say, I would do it all over again to see the look on Abby's face.
Being able to not only deliver her flowers, install the arch she was dreaming of but meet a great group of people! It made for a great day.
Plus, I'm a sucker for snacks and podcasts π€£ so gladly taking more out of town requests.
Congratulations again to the Hagers!

The frost is coming.. which means everything I've worked for this summer will be gone in one fell swoop. And the sad thing is, I'm not ready, not even a little. I don't fully have that "farmer florist burnout" yet. I don't feel like my time is over creating beautiful arrangements for you.
Yet, walking around my yard as the temps dropped and it rained off and on, I could tell this chapter was coming to an end. I still couldn't help but feel that sadness as I picked one BEAUTIFUL dahlia after another, skipping over certain flowers that had resting bumblers inside and knowing my cosmos are the best they've looked ALL YEAR FINALLY and just about to be ending.
It all feels so real now....I've made that walk up the backyard hill for what feels like 10 thousand trips, I've made hundreds of bouquets this year, a few friends, and a couple of mistakes. Most importantly, I've been able to HELP so many people. Between birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries, weddings, and memorials, (and even made a special flower arrangement for my own grandparents' funeral)......that walk doesn't seem so bad when it's almost done.
For me, the garden season might be ending, but this is just the beginning of my place in this world.

If anyone else has a lab... you understand the phrase, " you can't eat that!!" All too well.
