I am long overdue for an introduction on here-

I'm Dawn- the gal behind the lens telling you to smile, kiss, laugh, jump, and twirl! I am a lifestyle based photographer residing in Bismarck, ND. Photography has been a huge part of my life for the past 15 years. What started as a hobby grew into a passion that I was fortunate to turn into a small business. I have learned so much since I started and have grown so much just in the past 5 years. My favorite part about our time spent together is having a good, honest conversation. I love being able to learn your story and document it! My ultimate goal is that our time together will be fun and relaxing, allowing you to bond as a family, or just have a little 'you' time!

I am an RN by trade and currently work PRN. I love a cozy day at home spending time with my family. It fills my heart spending time in the kitchen cooking or baking up homemade goodness--although I wish it would clean itself 😆. I love the color purple in any shade. Coffee is my love language. I enjoy hunting and spending time at the lake in the summertime. God blessed me with my wonderful husband who is also my best friend and greatest supporter. Together we chase after two amazing and spunky little boys who keep us busy and laughing! Being a momma has been my greatest calling in life- I'm so darn thankful for my little blessings 💙

For the last few years I have worked my business according to my season of life which has been less than more. Family is always my first priority-but I always try to keep up with photography as much as time allows. I promise to always be real and authentic on here!

The Pearson family invited me out to Center to photograph them and their fur babes! Fur babies are so special and part of the family- It always makes me so excited when families want to include them in their sessions! This session was extra special as one of their babies is going through a challenging time with his health. I'm so happy I could document this chapter in their lives for them to cherish in the days ahead! ❤

Happy 2025! I'm still rocking my favorite Christmas mug, enjoying a book in my jammies next to a cozy fire that my sweet husband sparked just for me to enjoy while baby naps and he and our tot play! 🥰

I am so grateful for all of the blessings I have received in this life. Its so easy to g*y faufhtbup in thr hard and the lows and not truly recognize all the good surrounding us. I have been trying to focus on the good a lot more than while also choosing to be grateful for all of the hardships- there have been many the past few years- because they have brought so many good lessons that have helped me to grow in ways I didn't realize I needed!

I wanted to hop on here and extend a heartfelt THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to all of the support from my followers! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to use this gift for the good of others. Every session is an opportunity for me to grow! I strive to capture meaningful and emotional memories that you and your loved ones can enjoy and pass on to the next generation! I aim to always capture the perfectly imperfect and real moments!

Thank you to all my clients this past year for being so amazing to work with. Thank you for trusting me to document such precious and important moments in your life! This work is very meaningful and important to me and I never take it for granted ❤️.

*ATTENTION* 2026 SENIORS

Senior photos sneak up FAST! It is never too late to start thinking and planning for a session, especially with how short Summer can fly by! Fall is also my busiest season, so if you are wanting fall photos, it is best to book early so I can guarantee a spot for you!

I am going to be opening up my books in January to start booking Senior sessions this spring/summer!

If you are interested in booking, please reach out to me either through DM on my business page or my [email protected]. Please do not reach out through my personal DM- it gets to be chaotic tracking messages this way and sometimes you can get lost in the mix and I do not want that to happen.

As a photographer and a creative, I love taking time to appreciate another creative's work!

My dear friend, Amber, has an amazing talent and loves to decorate Cow Skulls! I just love seeing her designs come to life. Check out her page and give it a like- ND Skulls and designs.

I was honored when she reached out to me to photograph this particular skull she designed. Pendleton Whiskey wanted to use her design for their marketing content and requested images of the skull. I had so much fun crafting this little shoot! They have since shared these images a few times!

Throwing it back to some fun photos I took of my hubby's "3rd baby" ! 😉

Our little family really enjoys the mustang life, especially my 4 year old! He was not thrilled when the mustang had to go "night night" for the winter. He's gone into the garage a few times asking the mustang to "wake up"! We look forward to many more memories with her!

Happy Friday Friends! It's almost 11 and I'm just sitting in my car in my driveway finally enjoying some breakfast while my youngest naps- because that's how this week is going 🤣🤪! I hope you all have a great weekend and stay tuned for some photo dumps! I am way behind on posting content and so I've decided to do some random photo dumps of my work the past couple years!

Senior sessions are my favorite!! I love to listen and learn about their passions, hobbies, and interests while capturing their story!

Jack was so great to work with! He really made his session his own-which is what I strive for!

My Story

Hello! Welcome to my page, Dawn Rae Photography. I am very fortunate and blessed to have been able to turn one of my hobbies into a small business. Currently, I am a full time Dermatology RN here in Bismarck, and I love what I do. Photography has always been a part of my life in one way or another, and it has been something that I grew closer to as I finished high school and started college. I do a majority of my photographing here in Bismarck as well as surrounding areas. However, I will travel for pictures, and I am often back in my hometown of Zap where I am always willing to book sessions. I continue to grow, learn, and improve everyday with my photography. It brings me so much joy to be able to capture special and memorable moments to share with others. I am very appreciative of all of the support I have received and continue to receive. I would not be where I am today without all of you, my family, and God! Thank you for taking some time to look at my work. I hope you all enjoy what I have to share with you!
