Congratulations to three doctoral Jacobs students in the IU Ventures Fellows Program! 🎉👏 From the left, Lizzie Cooksey (horn) has completed her year as a 2024-25 fellow, while Rebekah Yang (cello) and Solomon Abang (trumpet) have been selected as 2025-26 fellows! They’re pictured with Alain Barker, director of the Jacobs School’s Office of Entrepreneurship & Career Development.

Jacobs School of Music joins with many in our community to mourn the passing and celebrate the life of alumna Janis Stockhouse.

Janis got her BME in 1977 and served as Director of Bands at Bloomington High School North for 38 years before her retirement in 2019. She was an honored music educator--named Outstanding Music Educator by IMEA and Educator of the Year by Bloomington Art Council, to name just two—and a beloved student mentor throughout her career.

Her loss will be keenly felt by the community.
