Canceled:

The 2024 February Frenzy has been cancelled. Last year when I did my end of the event post I posted next year date of February 24th, 2024..... No secret that the track we had is no longer there, However I was looking at other tracks one of them being RJ Speedrome, My intentions was to reach out to Ozzy this week.

However it was brought to my attention that Coopers posted a race that same weekend when they made their schedule. One thing I won't do is get into a pi***ng contest with other tracks or events. First Saturday of February I'll be at the Snowbirds, On the 10th I have a personal event. The 17th is Motorama, so that left the 24th to be the date for this race.

We have far to many titled/trophy races. Seems like every week of every month someone is trying to do something to draw crowds in. And when they do, that want to have 15 classes with 8 of them being a Traxxas base class and I don't agree with that. If your going to depend on entries to float your track you better have 1 bad ass racing surface that makes racers loose sleep at night from to much excitement to come back and race the next weekend.

We have far to many title/trophy races than we do racers, and these events are normally watered down with very low car counts. One of the things I tried to do is limit the classes and to stick with those classes as there was something for everyone so we didn't have so many classes.

So with Coopers scheduling over top of the February Frenzy date, I've decided to cancel it this year and not make racers choose which event to tend. Sure I could still have the race somewhere but now we're both fighting for entries when it's already hard enough to pull people in. It is disappointing that before tracks decide to have events that they don't look around to see what events is going on within a 5 or 6 hours of the event they wanna hold because people will travel.

I do this for fun, I do this because I love it, I do this because I want to keep high bite alive and help it grow again, I won't do this to cause headaches and stress in my life. I apologize for any racer who was looking forward to this event maybe 2025 will work out better.

Time will tell...........

2023:

Welp 2023 February Frenzy is now history.

First I have to say Thank you to Doug Gerasimoff. I don't think everyone realizes how hard Doug works on stuff. Doug is a big part of this race just as much as I am. He's been nothing but the best to work with to be honest and it's a pleasure and honor to do so. We are truly grateful to be able to have a race at Fairgrounds RC Raceway. Thank you will never be enough for your hospitality.

To our sponsors, Man of all the years I've done races this was by far the toughest year ever. I can't thank those enough for stepping up and helping this year when you truly didn't have too. I know it's tough right now we're all in a tough spot, I'm just so grateful for everyone who pitched in somehow some way.

To the racers, Thank You to everyone who came. Listen the numbers don't hurt my feelings. I expected a low turn out going into this. I take full responsibility for that. Setting up these races are tough, I didn't want to schedule anything before Motorama because I know guys at the Fairgrounds and preparing for Motorama, And I never even thought about the Fab5 Race at World of R/C Parts & Thunder Alley R/C Speedway. I will say this, There was talks between myself and Shaun Lamm and I about a possible move of the Fab5 race. But there was NO WAY they could move it with everything else they have going on. The per fact that Shaun and Chad Bunn even thought about it and talked about moving the Fab5 race just to come support this race tells you what kind of people they are. And this hobby needs more people like them and it's why I will support them in future races.

I know there was a lot of racers from the south who wanted to come up to the February Frenzy but they are in a points battle with the Fab5. Once again I own it, I screwed up. I could of changed my date once I realized it but then I would of made a mess for everyone else who already took days off work. Next year this won't happen.

Next year I'm looking at February 24th, 2024 as the date.

However I do want to give some personal shout-outs...

Kasey Hess maybe we should just change the name to Kasey Hess Nationals. You did a great job all weekend, you and Chuck Eccles both ran 4 classes. You both ran well in all your classes so grateful for you both. Nobody got anymore laps than you 2 did this weekend.

How about that Les Hartzell guy! His 13.5 Mudboss was bitch'in fast all weekend, And the smile he had on his face all weekend running foam tire sprint was simply awesome to see.

It was great to see someone like Kaine Metzger kinda step out of his comfort zone and do something different. All I've ever known him is for mudboss racing and some buggy tire stuff. It looked like he enjoyed the 17.5 Sprint car on a foam tire. I hope more racers do the same.

Finally Scott Kozokas once again solid as always behind the mic. You do such amazing job with calling the races. Thank You for a great job this weekend.

My final thoughts are this, No I didn't have the turn out I wanted but in the end we did what I said we'd do. We'd have fun, We'd laugh and we'd have a lot of smiles and that's exactly what we did. The smiles that I seen and the laughs I heard just makes it all worth it to me. The laughs and smiles that was made this weekend will be carried with people the rest of their lives and in the end that's what this is all about. It's not about winning or loosing, it's about those memories that you make that will last a life time. And that's why I do this.

Hope to see you all again next year, I love you all

SMC Racing is back with some more door prizes this year. SMC batteries are some of the best batteries you can strap in your car. I'm so happy to have them back with us this year for a door prize.

MOTIV RC is back once again, I love everything about what Paul and his company does for RC Racing. It's why I decided to go with this motor only for our 21.5 class.

Door Prize Sponsors are rolling in.

Rotor Ron is back once again this year to give little something away. Ron has 32 years of experience in providing you the horsepower that you will need to be successful.

Paul Winslow of XCEL Motorsports is a NEW DOOR Prize Sponsor this year. Mighty Paul is that little guy that just keeps plugging away at things. With a win at the 2023 Snowbirds has proven his motor tuning is one of the best. We are honored to have him on board this year.

BSR Racing Tires is back again for this year 2023 February Frenzy. Hands down the best tire you can put on your car. Can't say enough about what BSR does for our hobby.

R1 Wurks is back again this year with some goodies to hand out. R1 has set the standard in every way you can think of, And just when you think they can't do anything better they prove that they can. With new products like the Super Short they are always 1 step ahead

Hello Everyone,

It's been awhile, I hope everyone is doing well. It's the end of December and it's time to start putting things together for the 2023 February Frenzy. I can't tell you all how excited I am for this year's event. Last year even was just shy of my 100 entry goal. We had a strong 93 entries fill the beautiful Fairgrounds RC Raceway. My goal for 2023 is 125.

And once again I can't Doug Gerasimoff and his staff enough for allowing us to come back for another High Bite Foam Tire Oval race. So let's get this party started awhile. So what new? and What's staying the same?

Staying the same -

Classes: As you have already seen I'm staying with the same classes as I done last year, I just don't want to have 10 or 12 classes. Yes It would be great to add more classes to draw more car's but I believe in this model for a simple race program.

Grab Bags Door Prizes: I can't tell you how many people have said to me over the past year how much they enjoyed that. Putting all the door prizes in brown paper bags and when your number was called you got a grab bag. There was some really good prizes that went towards the end. Seeing everyone faces truly made this special to me.

Dashes: Oh yea, We're gonna pay some cash out again this year, Probably gonna do the same thing as we did last year Draw from starting spots and run a 2 minute dash for cash ( Dash doesn't effect any starting position for the Mains)

Entry Fee: It will be the same as last year, I'm not looking to change that either.

Practice and Race Schedule: Once again if it's not broke don't try to fix it. I'll do the same thing I did last year with Friday practice from 12pm till 9pm everyone out of the building by 9:30 then Saturday Morning i'll do a controlled practice starting at 8am till 1130 with drivers meeting at 11:45 racing starts at 12pm sharp.

Format: Simple 2 heats and a Main! Rocket Round... Just lay the smack down the best you can.

What's changing -

Well........ For those who do know me personally or who have ever dealt with me know. I'm a very opinionated more than I should be at times. And I'll be the first to say I think something or someone should of done this or that different. With that being said, it's time for me to put that shoe on and stand in them.

ALL 17.5 CLASSES WILL BE OPEN ESC! Now before anyone comments listen to my reason behind this. In the blinky world everyone is always looking around thinking others are cheating with special software. Open ESC takes care of that crap, And we don't have to worry about if it's ROAR approved or not. I watch local racer Kasey Hess all year at Staub Brothers' RC Speedway run a old R1Wurks V16 motor all years in 17.5 late model and was the fastest thing all year.

Now with that being said, Just because it's Open ESC doesn't mean you have to run boost. Once again Let me say it again... JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN RUN BOOST DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO RUN BOOST OR NEED TO RUN BOOST TO BE FAST!!! Open ESC works fine in the Buggy Tire/Loose Dirt world, You never hear anyone crying about ESC software. I'm willing to bet a blinky ESC wins at least 1 or if not 2 classes at this race.

21.5 Late Model - The only legal motor for 21.5 Latemodel will be the Motiv USGT Spec motor . I love what MOTIV RC has done with this motor. It's provided a great planform for 21.5 racing in the south. And also Paul Lemieux from Motiv RC supports my race so I will support his product. There are spec out for this motor on what resistance should be...ect HobbyWing doesn't provide that nor do they support my race.

Track Prep - Not doing the PJ1 again this year, More than likely Sugar and Grape Soda. Last year it just took the track too long to come in. But we'll see may not even need any SUGAR or Grape Soda.

I will be posting the rules here within the week or so, The 12t and 13.5 Mudboss will follow the Fairgrounds RC Raceway rules package.

I'll also be looking for class sponsors, to sponsor a class is $300. I'll also be looking for some great door prize sponsors as well. I also have to thank our titled sponsor OverDrive R/C.

Have a safe and warm Christmas Everyone, And Happy New Year's

Kevin Griffie

The 2022 February Frenzy is in the books. I first have to give thanks to Doug Gerasimoff for the opportunity to host a race at Fairgrounds RC Raceway none of this would of been possible without you. THANK YOU DOUG! I can't say enough about the staff he has they are such a pleasure to work with. To Scott Kozokas dude you knocked it out of the park calling the race and you kept the show moving, Thank you for your support and hard work during the show.

When I announced that I was doing this, I had people who wanted to help and said they would do anything I asked of them. Mike Silvernail, Tim Haskin, Josh Sharpsteen, Kevin Markle, Joe Mayne, Tony Little and Louis Pavlovec are the guys who wanted to come test knowing we was there to help figure things out to get us a track, Thank you for your time and efforts during the test.

Thank you to all our class sponsors:
Carpy's Custom Screen Printing
Bloom Hobby Center
OverDrive Rides & Services, LLC
Psycho Cells Racing
BSR Racing Tires
Lefthander-RC.com
Custom Works R/C Products

Without your wavering support this event would of never had a chance. It was a honor to carry your name on our awards.

Roger Lewis : DUDE! Just WOW! That's all I can say about the awards you made. When I seen the look on everyone face I know these was gonna be a home run.

To our door prize sponsors who pitched in
RI Wurks
JB R/C-SPORTS
SMC Racing
Staub Brothers' RC Speedway
MOTIV RC
Team Trinity
Pemberton Raceworks
Fantom Racing
Donathen RC
Rotor Ron
Blue Groove
Fry Racing
Custom Works RC
Psycho Cells Racing
BSR Tires
Nick Bell Racing

Thank you for all the prizes, It was pretty cool to see the look on racers face when they had to choice a brown paper bag with a door prize in it. It was pretty fun to do. Everyone loved the grab bag.

And Finally to raise $1320 for Russ Lebo I'm totally speechless, It truly shows that we are a true family and that we do take care and look out for each other. God is great!

Thank you everyone for coming out to the 2022 February Frenzy, I wish I could find something say other than thank you. But I'm truly at lost for words, Our numbers for our first race is as good as any first race with less classes and I TEND TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!

Welp... Until next year folks, Take care and God Bless~
