2023:
Welp 2023 February Frenzy is now history.
First I have to say Thank you to Doug Gerasimoff. I don't think everyone realizes how hard Doug works on stuff. Doug is a big part of this race just as much as I am. He's been nothing but the best to work with to be honest and it's a pleasure and honor to do so. We are truly grateful to be able to have a race at Fairgrounds RC Raceway. Thank you will never be enough for your hospitality.
To our sponsors, Man of all the years I've done races this was by far the toughest year ever. I can't thank those enough for stepping up and helping this year when you truly didn't have too. I know it's tough right now we're all in a tough spot, I'm just so grateful for everyone who pitched in somehow some way.
To the racers, Thank You to everyone who came. Listen the numbers don't hurt my feelings. I expected a low turn out going into this. I take full responsibility for that. Setting up these races are tough, I didn't want to schedule anything before Motorama because I know guys at the Fairgrounds and preparing for Motorama, And I never even thought about the Fab5 Race at World of R/C Parts & Thunder Alley R/C Speedway. I will say this, There was talks between myself and Shaun Lamm and I about a possible move of the Fab5 race. But there was NO WAY they could move it with everything else they have going on. The per fact that Shaun and Chad Bunn even thought about it and talked about moving the Fab5 race just to come support this race tells you what kind of people they are. And this hobby needs more people like them and it's why I will support them in future races.
I know there was a lot of racers from the south who wanted to come up to the February Frenzy but they are in a points battle with the Fab5. Once again I own it, I screwed up. I could of changed my date once I realized it but then I would of made a mess for everyone else who already took days off work. Next year this won't happen.
Next year I'm looking at February 24th, 2024 as the date.
However I do want to give some personal shout-outs...
Kasey Hess maybe we should just change the name to Kasey Hess Nationals. You did a great job all weekend, you and Chuck Eccles both ran 4 classes. You both ran well in all your classes so grateful for you both. Nobody got anymore laps than you 2 did this weekend.
How about that Les Hartzell guy! His 13.5 Mudboss was bitch'in fast all weekend, And the smile he had on his face all weekend running foam tire sprint was simply awesome to see.
It was great to see someone like Kaine Metzger kinda step out of his comfort zone and do something different. All I've ever known him is for mudboss racing and some buggy tire stuff. It looked like he enjoyed the 17.5 Sprint car on a foam tire. I hope more racers do the same.
Finally Scott Kozokas once again solid as always behind the mic. You do such amazing job with calling the races. Thank You for a great job this weekend.
My final thoughts are this, No I didn't have the turn out I wanted but in the end we did what I said we'd do. We'd have fun, We'd laugh and we'd have a lot of smiles and that's exactly what we did. The smiles that I seen and the laughs I heard just makes it all worth it to me. The laughs and smiles that was made this weekend will be carried with people the rest of their lives and in the end that's what this is all about. It's not about winning or loosing, it's about those memories that you make that will last a life time. And that's why I do this.
Hope to see you all again next year, I love you all
Kevin Griffie~
