Big shoutout to my mom’s cousin, Shirley Panu, and her daughter Michele for having me on their podcast, We Heart Your Life! 🎧

Good morning! There will be a lull in sunflowers until late August or September. They are almost spent for now.

You know what’s worse than failing at a new idea? Never trying one in the first place.

Someone came to me recently, embarrassed that they had tried out new things and they didn’t turn out the way they imagined.

I laughed and started listing off my many ventures that flopped:

🏃‍♀️ Exercise program developer (even though I’m not a certified personal trainer).
🎨 Sugar cookie decorator (even though I’m not exactly an artist).
👩‍🏫 Homeschooling mom (this one at least made more sense given my decade in education)...and the list goes on.

I’m not embarrassed by any of it any more.I think people should try new things. If a hobby makes a little extra money, that’s great. If it makes you happy, that’s even better.

I would much rather spend time with someone who is full of ideas than with someone who thrives on gossip. Gossip is draining. Talking about other people is soul-sucking.

Short story long: I’d rather hear your 500 business ideas and your dreams for fixing the world than hear what Betsy did at the County Fair. Sorry if your name is Betsy.

And P.S. because someone needs to hear this nobody really cares what you’re doing as much as you think they do. Your immediate family and a few close friends might notice, but most people are too busy living their own lives. As proof, very few people will read this to the end.

In time, the person who dares to try a million things will find the one that feels like home and it will stick. They’ll thrive, the shame will fade, and they’ll finally see that their life was never meant to look like anyone else’s.

Now, I’ll be in my garden if you need me, where the flowers bloom, the pollinators hustle, and not a single soul is wasting time judging you.

The first picture is THE GOAL.
The second picture is THE REALITY.

Getting to the photo on the left takes a lot of money, skill, and time. But here’s the truth: the photo on the right took those same things — and it deserves to be celebrated, too.

Some days, our best looks polished and impressive to the outside world. Other days, our best might look a lot like falling short.

Hold onto the ultimate goal but please, please, please realize the end goal takes time and the process of getting there is 100% worth celebrating! I have to write it here to believe it myself. 😉

If you’re reading this, I hope you give yourself some permission and grace:

✨ You can’t do it all.
✨ And definitely not all at once.
✨ Be careful comparing your work to others — no two people’s timelines or circumstances are the same.
✨Get inspired, not jealous!

Bless this mess and bless my husband even more.
He lets me completely blow up our kitchen without a single complaint.
Doesn’t ask questions, doesn’t roll his eyes — just grabs a broom and starts helping.
Quietly, kindly, like it’s the most normal thing in the world.

He knows it makes me happy.

That’s love right there.
