This past Saturday, I was greeted by an enthusiastic resident the moment I walked in the door. She was so excited to see me coming in with flowers again!

Edit- not Monarchs but Swallowtails. Apparently their host plant is Dill. So I guess I’m losing my first harvest of Dill. So moving them off the Milkweed back to the Dill. 🤪

I moved these plump beauties (monarch caterpillars )from my Dill to the Milkweed. I’m so happy to see them in the field but would rather not have them eat my entire row of Dill. I’ll keep you posted on their activity 🦋

Update #2: two 🐁 down! 🪤

Update: I haven’t caught what was getting into my flowers. But the domes seem to be working. Keep your fingers crossed! 🪤🐿️🐁

I have a critter in my greenhouse. 😡😤 It has eaten 144 sunflowers, 72 Celosia, 72 zinnias, and 300 basil. I’ve sowed these seeds again…now 2x. Seed shells are everywhere. What do you think it is? 🐭 Or 🐿️ ??? I may be just mad enough to strangle it with my bare hands. 🤣

Hopefully I’ve outsmarted it! I placed domes on all my new seeds. Stay tuned…. 🐿️🐭😡🌻

It’s been everything but quite around here. 😝

From starting 🌸 , to raising and butchering Cornish chickens 🐓, wedding shows, making pork sausage 🐷, delivering baby goats at my sister’s house to finally getting in the tractor in the field. BlueBird Flower Fields is under way.

The 🌧️ delayed planting about a month or so with but the time is here. I’ll be in the greenhouse and field for the next two months. So if you need something or you are bored… you know where to find me. 🌸

Yep… it’s that time again.

Time to get the seeds, soil, trays, lights, and grow tent out and set up. 🌱 🌱 💡

Over the next four months there be thousands of seeds planted, watered, and babied until the time comes to head out to the greenhouse and then to their forever home.. the field. 🌱🌱 💡

A big thanks to my hubby for letting me take over the shop again. I promise there is still room to hide out and watch football. 😜

Just thinking of sunny days filled with flowers and dirt under my nails. Me rushing around with garden gloves and shears on my waist, running from the shop to the field with buckets of flowers in hand, anticipating the excitement on the receiving end. 🌻🌞

Now that the field is cleared, it’s time to all start making lists of what seeds I have in stock, which ones I need to order, what flowers were a pain the butt, and which ones I need more of. Then onto designing the layout of the flower field. I’m already excited for next year’s flowers and everything that comes with it! Stay tuned… 🌻🌷🌸
