Aunt Willie's Wildflowers

Aunt Willie's Wildflowers What a delight it is for us to grow specialty cut flowers on beautiful Tennessee farm land gently handed down through six generations.

We invite you to choose flowers for that very special wedding, join a workshop or two or contact us about purchasing flowers for a very special occasion. All flowers are farm grown. Some are heirloom and some are just plain pretty. Our hope is that through Aunt Willie’s Wildflowers, the love of all things wild that grow and blossom will pass beyond our family to any who would choose to share in all that God graciously bestows.

It’s beautiful on the farm this time of year but it gets just a bit lonely in the winter sooo . . . we’re ready for our first gathering of 2025! Come join us and celebrate winter’s quiet beauty as we play with flowers and foliages that have been dried till they’re soft and muted and just perfect after all the bright holiday has been packed away. Create a wreath and wall hanging that will last long past the flowers of spring and summer to come. We have lots of wonderful and wild material stored up at Aunt Willie’s ready and waiting for folks to come and play.

Aunt Willie’s house is warm and toasty and just perfect for our Celebrate Winter Workshop. Last year we had so much fun we just had to host again this year.

No experience necessary as I will demonstrate a wreath and simple wall hanging from start to finish and we’ll have folks to help you along your way if needed.

We are so ready to have folks back with us on the farm so come join us if you’re interested and able. Check the link https://www.auntwillieswildflowers.com/product/winter-dried-workshop/ for all the details.

Whether your Christmas is upright or falling over we hope it has some merry and at least a tiny bit of bright . . . but most of all we wish you peace . . . deep down peace that lasts all through the day and into the dark reaches of the night.

There are things to celebrate and things to look forward to and then, like my years ago fallen down tree, things to laugh about and put behind us. Life is thankfully full of new beginnings.

Happy Christmas, dear friends 💕

Sunday smoky mountain skies. Just enough clouds and peeking-out sun for another sweet Appalachian sunrise.

After Thursday evening’s workshop my mind was already a year ahead. Started playing with leftover greenery in a low container with a candle added. Nandina berries in the place of Winterberry added just enough red. And it seems a turkey feather is now our holiday trademark 🪶

Resting now . . . it’s been a busy time . . . Sunday school class just left and workshops and farm store are over but somehow winter weariness takes less of a toll it seems to me.

Do you like one pic better than the other? I couldn’t decide.

It was so good to be back at Aunt Willie‘s for our first-in-a-very-long-time Christmas Centerpiece Workshop. Had so much fun with these lovely ladies who created beautiful arrangements and shared just a bit of who they are and where they came from as the evening progressed. We had folks returning and folks arriving for the very first time, already-friends and folks-becoming-friends, and everyone ready to spend some time together away from the usual busy-ness of the holidays.

Thank you for taking time to be with us at the farm and we hope our paths will cross again in the new year. A few more pics in stories but Aunt Willie’s is a tiny little house where photos are a bit more difficult.

This was our last official Christmas gathering of the season so many thanks to each of you who took a bit of our farm home with you for the holidays 🎄 We appreciate your making the effort to come out of your way and out of your very full lives to visit our little piece of wildness 💕

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays ❄️

I can’t help myself. Still putting things together 🎄

Thanks to each and everyone of you who came out to support our Christmas farm store yesterday. We had time to visit and catch up with old friends and meet new friends as well. We are humbled by your support of our little farm. Since we’ll be working Monday and Tuesday we’re going to leave the Farm store open from 9 to 5 on a self-serve basis. We have a few things left and we’ll restock a few things as well. We’ll leave directions for payment on the table inside and will be around if you need to text us for help. We take Venmo and checks as payment and will leave instructions.

Come visit tomorrow or Tuesday if you’re in our neck of the woods and would like a pretty little thing or two!

Another light dusting of snow and another busy day of playing with all things Christmas! The Farm Store will be open this Saturday from 2-4 pm at 399 Bruce Doan, 37617 and we would love for you to visit.

We’re enjoying playing with so many different varieties of greenery and so many shiny finishing touches. Dried orange slices, Winterberry Holly, Feathers, ribbon, and bells just add the right amount of sparkle. So many fresh arrangements in different styles and sizes we think there’s something for everyone.

Roy has been busy making charcuterie boards and smaller pieces which make perfect gifts for that someone who is just a bit hard to buy. All his pieces are made from wood harvested from the farm which we think makes some pretty special.

So join us if you can and share a bit of Christmas cheer.

Also, one spot left in our centerpiece workshop next Thursday 🎄

Christmas Farm Store, Sat, Dec. 7th, 2-4 PM at the Homeplace, 399 Bruce Doan Rd., 37617.

This week we’ll be gathering up Pinecones, cedar, spruce, hemlock, winterberry holly, pine, and all things natural in arrangements, wreathes, wall hangings, smudge sticks, and more. Candles, ribbon, and even turkey feathers will add the finishing touches.

Our farm kids will offer ornaments, Christmas teas, notecards and woodburning, along with Roy’s charcuterie boards and smaller wooden pieces.

And if you’d rather create your own Christmas magic, we will have tiny cedar trees, dried flowers, buckets of cedar, and buckets of mixed greenery available.

There will be carols of course and perhaps a bit of Christmas cheer so please stop in if just to say hello and Merry Christmas.

Hope to see you Saturday afternoon! 🎄

Holiday Centerpiece Workshop - Dec.12, 6-8 pm

We are so excited to host a Workshop at Aunt Willie’s! Her sweet little brick bungalow is just right for gathering and we we haven’t done a Christmas workshop in years so we just decided it’s time! We have the loveliest assortment of greenery and berries that we have foraged from the farm and from friends which gives this workshop a special sense of community. Pinecones, turkey feathers, orange and apple slices and things that jingle will also be present and add the nicest touches. There will be cookies and a splash of mulled cider to fuel us through the evening and maybe a candy cane or two.

We will arrange in this green pedestal vase that I’ve been saving for almost a year as it seems the perfect match for the holidays. I made this piece yesterday and thought it looked pretty in front of the last little bit of fall in the mountains.

Space is limited but the good news is – there’s heat! Join us if you can for this special holiday gathering. Follow the link https://www.auntwillieswildflowers.com/product/holiday-centerpiece-thurs-dec-12th-6-8-pm/

And hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving!! Pumpkins are ready to roll here!!!! 🧡

The most wonderful snow overnight just painted the world for a few sparkling hours this morning.

We played with Christmas pieces yesterday so I gathered them from the Homeplace and brought them up to this snowy perch for a few pics.

We made these as examples of some of the things that you’ll find at the Christmas Farm Store Saturday, December 7th. I’ll be sharing more along the way but we thought these would give you a glimpse of what we have in store.

Just some pretty fall leaves and a few wild things from the field in memory of a kind Christ-filled woman . . . who took her children to church and also took them camping and who spent summer evenings at Euclid Beach on the shores of Lake Erie. Who invited our Sunday school class for Christmas brunch, who took food to those who needed it, and sent cards because cards remind us that someone cares.

There are some folk who come into our lives who travel with goodness by their side and spend their whole lives sharing that goodness . . . Sue Wise was just such a lady. We will miss her in so many heartfelt ways but thankful she taught her children and grandchildren well so pieces of her goodness will live on through them and others she was able to touch 💕💔

A call for volunteers! We’d love to have your help cleaning up, cutting back, weeding, digging, composting and whatnot in our dahlia beds this Saturday. We promise it will be no fun whatsoever but, well, everything‘s a little better when you’re with good company . . . and there will be pizza and a dahlia tuber at the end of the morning so at least that’s good 😉

Growing dahlias can be overwhelming. There’s so much work that no one sees that happens right now. This mild weather makes all clean up a little more pleasant and the high Saturday is 61°

We’ll start at 9 AM but if you can get here by 10 AM that’s fine too. We’ll end with pizza at noon. Just send me a DM or comment if you’re interested and I’ll share more details. If you have a shovel and gloves, we ask that you bring those along, but other than that , we’ll supply all the dirt, weeds, and work.

Party on 🎉
