Amidst the chaos of the hurricane, love found a way to shine ☀️ ❤️

A love story for a little light in the darkness:

"We had no idea it would be so difficult in Banner Elk, where we rented a cabin for the weekend with the plan to propose to my girlfriend. We kept getting turned around and driving over flooded roads, with half or more of the road gone... We made it through Boone three hours before it flooded for the second time. Finally, we found some food, and my girlfriend got service on her phone, so we started looking for a place to stay. I told her to pick whatever looked best to her, and she found Chelota in Blowing Rock. From the moment we arrived and shared our story the staff was amazing. I’ve never had such a great visit anywhere; it felt like family as soon as we got there.
Then, on our only full day there, after breakfast, I told one of the staff, Anna, who we had talked to a lot, about my proposal plan while my girlfriend was in the bathroom. She recommended an incredible spot for it. Little did I know, Anna had the staff clean the entire area to make it look perfect, then “walked us down there to show it to us” and took a video while I proposed to my now fiancée.
Everything had fallen apart literally, but thanks to Chelota, Anna, and most of all, God and His protection, it turned out better than I could have planned.
My prayers go out to all those affected by this storm and this crazy time... I know it’s still a tough situation in western NC, but I hope this story brings a little light to a dark time.

We all need to do what we can to help; the Carolina mountains need support, and there are such amazing people there. It’s a truly special place in North Carolina. God bless you all, and thank you so much to Chelota and their incredible staff for such an unforgettable experience and memory during such a scary time! Best place ever, hands down!!"
