Giacometti Figurative Sculpture – Homeschool Art Lesson
📅 For Ages 9-14

Step into the world of Alberto Giacometti and explore the art of figurative sculpture! In this hands-on homeschool lesson, students will learn about armatures, form, and proportions while sculpting their own abstracted 3D figures inspired by Giacometti’s iconic elongated style.

Through this engaging project, we’ll experiment with shape, balance, and texture, developing a deeper understanding of how artists create expressive movement in sculpture. This class is perfect for young artists eager to explore structure and creativity in three dimensions!

It'll be a snowy Tuesday!

Winter storm will bring 3-5 inches of snow to the KC Metro with higher amounts south of highway 50.

Heaviest snow expected in the late morning continuing into the afternoon and evening.

Dangerous cold continues through at least Thursday with single digit temperatures above and below zero likely. Bundle up!

Classes are canceled tonight Weds Feb 12th.

We just drove over to the studio, and while 7 Hwy has been plowed, it’s still not in great condition. Main Street appears to not have been plowed yet, and our parking lot and sidewalk haven’t been cleared either. For everyone’s safety, we have decided to cancel class this evening.

Originally, we were scheduled to be off on Wednesday, March 19th, for Spring Break, but we will now be using that evening as a make-up day. Classes will be held at their regular times that night.

Advanced Art Students just wrapped up our unit on Watercolor Pencils, and I couldn’t be more proud of their work! This project was inspired by an incredible artist and friend, , whose talent and creativity inspire not only me but so many in the art community. 💖

I’m so grateful to share her influence with my students and see her legacy shine through in their beautiful creations.

Looking ahead, our next unit starts in January, and it’s all about Color Theory and Color Mixing. ❤️💛💙 join us for a colorful start to the new year! 🎨

🎨 Look at these incredible charcoal and white pastel raccoons! 🦝✨ Our Monday evening students truly brought Missouri wildlife to life with their amazing artistry.

This project is part of our “Animals of Missouri” art series, where we’re exploring local wildlife through various mediums. At the end of this session, their stunning works will be featured in a special exhibit at Burr Oaks Nature Center! 🌿
