Farewell to 28510, Cow Smith Building 🌸💔
When I first laid eyes on this building, I was commuting from Dallas to Dublin. It’s charm & wildness called to me. I took a job in Granbury & got to pass it every single weekday, twice a day. I remember saying this building was everything I could ever want. THIS building would be my flower shop. At the time I was ready to take the plunge into brick & mortar, it was occupied. So I did the next best thing & moved in next door.
By happenstance & divine timing, Cow Smith opened up when I needed it & I swiftly hauled wagons of plants & flowers across the 200 feet of Greenwood Road. In a frenzy, I painted the flower & mushroom mural on the patio before my grand opening the next day! & eventually the old “GAS” letters on the tin arrow were changed to “FLOWERS.”
This building is one of the loves of my life. It’s history, the architecture, the little built in scavenger hunt of trinkets cemented into the walls, our forever occupant LaHoma— it’s magic. Pure magic. ✨
This building homed millions of flower stems, hundreds of laughs, held me when I cried in puddles on the concrete floor, sent creative genius into my brain at the wildest times, & brought me so many friends & people I consider to be family now. This building is love. I can talk about it literally all day if you asked.
I’m so so excited for my new studio build coming along beautifully, & I know it’s the right move for my business & what I want to be as a florist. But Cow Smith will always & forever be my favorite building in the world. I’m delighted that such caring (& spiritual) hands will be taking over. Let us all congratulate Dana at Double D BBQ (the food truck that’s been in our lot) on his new space for live music & fall off the bone bbq 💛🔥
& finally a thank you to for believing in my business, restoring Cow Smith to its superior rustic charm, & allowing me to feel all the feelings in this whimsical & electric space. 👒
I’ll always love you, 28510. Time to love on 868 for awhile. ❤️
