Today I was compelled to share a photo of this beautiful bride and her daughter on Mothers’ Day. My social media is usually methodically planned in advance, but today? Just pure raw emotion that had to be shared with the world.

It’s my first Mothers’ day and my wedding world has blossomed bigger than I could have imagined. I have so much to be thankful for. I always said I wanted to give my family the best life by doing something bigger than myself. While that’s still true, there is a deeper reason. I love weddings.

Weddings are a symbol for love, families, and life. They represent families becoming one, and often times, growing. Being a mother is the hardest job. But the most rewarding. And I truly believe that family and love is what life is all about.

So, happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. You’re doing great. 😍

P.S Shoutout to Meredith for sending us this sneak peek on Mothers’ Day only ONE DAY after the wedding! What a special surprise for this bride. đŸ„č

Do I actually need a wedding cake?

No! It’s your day, and you can do whatever you want. With so many dessert options, choose one that reflects your personality. If you love cookies, have a cookie buffet. If hot chocolate is your jam, have a hot chocolate bar. Ice cream trucks and coffee trucks are cute and unique, creating memories for your guests. There are soo many sweet options! However, most of the couples I work with who have alternative desserts typically still order a small cutting cake, even if it’s from the grocery store. The tradition of cake cutting not only signifies the couple serving their guests, but also is a sign that it is now acceptable, as a guest, to leave the event if you choose to do so.

Comment below desserts that you would love to see at a wedding!

For the couple with a sense of humor, you might be looking for ways to entertain your guests. After all, a wedding is all about making memories for you and your guests! Here are a few simple ideas to make your day unforgettable.

Have a flower man. If there’s someone special in your life who isn’t a groomsman, but you would like to honor them during your ceremony, ask them to be a flower man! This can be done more seriously with sunglasses and briefcases walking down the aisle, or more humorous with a basket of petals (or shooters, if your bar service allows
)

Ask your bridal party to get creative with their entrance, or even make it a competition! They can practice their entrance at the rehearsal or rehearsal dinner to plan and get comfortable with their walking partner. This is what my bestie Jazz and great friend Chris did as they rolled in on tricycles at our wedding. It was a moment none of us will forget!

Or, do something completely unique like I did. During my mother-daughter dance, I cut the music to “Money Money Money” and my bridesmaids used money guns to shower us with $100 bills! (OK they weren’t real but I still felt like a high roller).

No matter what route you take, just make sure it’s authentic and not forced. If you’re wondering if your idea to add humor to your wedding will go overboard, comment below and ask us!

Imagine it’s your wedding day. The ceremony has ended, speeches have been made, your first dance is over, and now you’re finally sitting down to enjoy your meal. All of the sudden, your grandfather takes your grandmother on the dance floor, looks deep into her eyes and slow dances. Everyone is in tears. You are flooded with emotions. You look around. Where is your photographer? Where is the videographer? Well, they are taking a short break in a back closet to quickly scarf down some dinner.

Things like these happen more often than you’d think. Sometimes there are moments that even your wedding planner couldn’t plan for (we can’t read minds!). This is why I highly suggest you have a vendor table nearby the guests. Not only is it thoughtful for the people working so hard to ensure you have a perfect day, but the vendors won’t be exiting the room for an extended period of time. It ensures that you will have coverage of all events from your wedding day. Your vendors won’t want to miss anything either, and if you need anything, your planner will be right in the room, while also being able to have a short break after being on their feet all day! (After all, we are only human!)

01/19/2024

When choosing your priorities with allocating your wedding budget, transportation is often overlooked. After all, guests typically drive themselves to work every day, right? However, if possible, I highly suggest booking transportation for yourself and your guests.

Firstly, for yourself. It’s the best day of your life. When the night comes to an end, do you really want to drive yourself to the hotel? Or do you want to sit in a backseat with your new spouse and talk about the night stress-free? Not to mention, there are so many cute getaway ideas, like a jeep wrangler or vintage car.

For your guests, many may be coming from out of town. It is less expensive overall for you to book event transportation than it is for all of those guests to rent a car.
If you’re wanting to party the night away with a packed dance floor, having guest transportation is a huge help. Guests who drive themselves might not want to drink very much due to driving later that night. With providing transportation, your guests can drink and dance the night away without worrying about safety.

Lastly, providing transportation allows you to control the timeline. You want your guests to be early to the ceremony? Have the transportation drop them off early. You want your guests to stay all night and not leave early? Offer only later trips back to the hotel.

When booking transportation, make sure to read reviews. You will want a company that is prompt and professional. It is also important to make sure your guests know the pick up times and what vehicle to look for. The more informed they are, the smoother the day will go.

Wedding Planner, Wedding Designer, Day-Of-Coordinator, Month-Of-Coordinator
what does it all mean? Let’s break it down.

A wedding coordinator is for the couple who has planned their wedding and just needs someone to come in toward the end to ensure it all goes smoothly. If planning is your jam, you likely feel the need to have someone there a few weeks before and the day-of to make sure all your planning is executed perfectly.

A wedding planner offers hands-on support for the months leading up to your big day. If you’re wanting to sit back and enjoy your engagement, a wedding planner can step in to guide you every step of the way.

A wedding designer helps with color theme decisions, florals, centerpieces, place settings, signage, and other elements of your decor. Many coordinators and planners offer design services as well.

For more detailed summaries, visit the link in my bio for the full blog post. If you’re trying to decide what type of support you may need, comment a heart emoji below!

Hi, I'm Julia!

When I'm not in wedding planning or project management mode, I am actually a big dork who likes wine, board games, cuddling with my 4-month old, or playing with my 4-year old puppy.

I like to laugh-- a lot--so I'm usually cracking bad jokes and laughing at myself, which my husband Nick finds pretty embarrassing.

I'm not much fun at parties because instead of talking to people, I'm usually the first (and last) to hit up the buffet. Food is everything.

Exercise isn't my thing, but I wish it were. I sometimes imagine myself on the elliptical, which is better than not thinking about it, right?

I'm basic in a lot of ways but one--my passion for THIS. I cannot wait to get to know YOU and help make your wedding a special reflection of you and your soon-to-be bride or groom! Let's do this!

Is there anything else you want to know about me? Drop a comment below!

Let’s talk about the flowers! If you’re holding a bouquet, PLEASE hold it at your belly button. If you’ve been to a wedding I’m coordinating, you know that I’m constantly reminding the bridesmaids!. Those bouquets can be larger than you think, and it feels natural to hold them up high, which leads to covering up your chest and neck with the top of the flowers. Belly button is a good rule to remember 😉.

And those with boutonnieres, ask for some extra pins! Certain floral choices have a harder stem which can cause a pin to bend or break. Many florists will offer extra pins already, but it’s a common item in my wedding-day emergency kit!

With many venues to choose from, you’re allowed to be picky. Every wedding venue will handle your wedding day differently and will provide a specific style, so it is important to ask many questions to have the information you need to make a decision.

Some of the more important questions are if they include catering, have a preferred vendors list, and if they include chairs, tables, linens, and place settings. Some venues may offer access to a collection of centerpieces and decor.

Weather in the low country is unpredictable. Does the venue offer a solid plan in case of inclement weather? Do they offer heat or A/C to keep you and your guests comfortable?

Also, did you know that some wedding venues will host more than one wedding in a day? While they typically have it down to a science, some couples may prefer to be the only event.

These are only a fraction of the important questions you need to ask. For a full list and more details, visit the link below.

So, you’re engaged and ready to tackle one of the first major wedding planning steps
 booking your wedding venue!

I really can’t get over this day and these photos. Megan and Miles were a DREAM! Their vendor team was pure perfection. Their bridal party, family, and guests were the sweetest, most supportive group. It really was a joy to watch them be married, and have the time of their lives while doing it.

Fun Fact: At this wedding I added cake decorator to my resume! The family brought in a plain cake and asked if I could add the florals myself. Normally I’d leave that to the professionals, but with these absolutely gorgeous flowers I just couldn’t resist. Nancy from a Floral Affair truly outdid herself!

Well, this year is coming to an end. As I reflect on 2023, I am so grateful for this little life of mine and everyone who has impacted it. If you’ve worked with me this past year, you know that Nick and I found out we were expecting, and my pregnancy journey was filled with many unexpected challenges, all while planning weddings! I am so appreciative of my 2023 clients for being flexible with me, many becoming lifelong friends. Thank you for trusting me and sharing with me the most important day of your life. Here’s to 2024!

Whether you have just gotten engaged or have been for a while, congratulations!
Getting married is such an exciting time. However, planning a wedding is no simple task. You might be wondering, "where do I even start?" Here is my process to get the ball rolling:

Set a budget. In order to stay stress-free during the planning process, your budget should be determined before anything else in order to book vendors that you are able to afford.

Create a guest list and collect addresses. Keep in mind that the more guests, the more expensive your wedding will cost. Having an estimated guest count will help you determine a venue that can accommodate your needs size-wise and financially.

Visit and book a venue. Your favorite venue's availability will determine your wedding date.

Then, you can book the rest of your vendors. If you're hoping for a specific vendor, contact them ASAP as we are about to experience the "engagement rush", and some vendors you've had your eye on may begin booking up quickly.

Wow, what a year. The road to get here was among the most challenging we've faced as a family, but it was all worth it to reflect back and see our beautiful baby boy! From the bottom of our hearts thank you for your love and support this year. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! 🎄

When I first met Rachel, I knew she was special. I was immediately drawn to her infectious personality from that first phone call. Her wedding day was a true reflection of her and her beautiful relationship with Collin. From the signage and thank you cards, to place cards and menus, I am so grateful I was able to not only coordinate her day, but hand create every aspect of it.

Imagine this: You're sitting in the chair getting your makeup applied on the most important day of your life. You're sitting incredibly still as your make up artist is applying eyeliner and your photographer approaches asking for an invitation, ring box, jewelry, shoes.

You panic. Where on EARTH did you put them? You scramble, ripping apart the entire getting ready room. You're sweating, ruin your half-completed makeup and are late to your ceremony all because you didn't think to grab these items in advance. Wedding day ruined.

Okay, maybe that's dramatic. But you now can see why it's important that you prep these items in advance! Here is a checklist of items that we recommend putting aside:

Ring box
Rings, including engagement and wedding rings
Spare florals (ask your florist to provide a few buds!)
Save-the-date
Wedding invitation
Envelope
Vow books

We can all agree, some wedding trends are better than others (I'm looking at you, garter toss). These are some that I loooove and hope they never go away!

1. Golden hour photos. A time to escape for a few minutes with your new spouse during the reception and slow down and be together, while also creating beautiful images to cherish forever. (đŸ“·: Focal Point Photography)

2. Wooden cross-back chairs. These are SO gorgeous and really add elegance to any space. Can you believe this photo is from a backyard wedding!? (đŸ“·: Jerome Braga / Photographic Artist)

3. Customized items. I love how a custom hanger, ring holder, or handkerchief can add a personal touch to the day, while also supporting the small businesses who create them - like me! If you’re looking for customized items for your day, send me a message! (đŸ“·: Bryan Avigne Photography)

4. A first look. The moment is always so sweet, and allows for photos to be done pre-ceremony, leaving the whole night for the happy couple and bridal party to join the party right away. (đŸ“·: Alexis Ralston Photography)

What are some of your favorite wedding trends?

12/14/2023

I love the diamond dazzle stik.

It... removes grime.
It... is inexpensive.
It... looks pretty.
It... is easy to use.

And it... makes the perfect stocking stuffer for that recently engaged person in your life!

Let's talk music. Professional DJs know what songs to play to keep the party going. Don't accept song requests unless you're willing to hear random songs that might throw off the "vibe." Songs can also evoke emotional reactions. Don't want the song your ex dedicated to you played? A list of songs you do not want played is a must!

On the morning of your wedding, do NOT wear a bra. Wearing tight clothes even for a short period of time can leave marks and redness on your back and shoulders, visible while you wear your wedding dress. This small but important detail can also show up in your photos, and you won't want to pay extra for that photoshop work!

Megan & Elliott's lowcountry wedding was an absolute dream. From these photos you'd have no idea that a storm was lingering and threatening to rain out their beautiful outdoor ceremony. The morning of the wedding, I asked the father-of-the-bride to pick up tarps and we covered all the chairs to keep the ceremony space dry while we waited for the storms to pass. I remember making the phone call to the groomsmen and bridesmaids to expedite the entire timeline so we could ensure they were able to get these photos before the rain started, since the radar showed the storm would appear right around the first look timing. Needless to say, we pulled it off!

Megan reflected and said, "Julia was the most professional and patient coordinator for our dreamy lowcountry wedding. At the time, my fiancé and I were living on the other side of the country in Washington state and planning our wedding that would take place on Hilton Head Island. Julia was incredibly accommodating and really put our long-distance wedding planning worries to rest. She was incredibly organized and took all of my concerns into consideration. On the day-of she was professional, making sure everyone was where they needed to be, and she also had the best attitude. It was great to see she was genuinely excited for us! I would highly recommend you hire Julia to make your wedding planning less stressful, and your wedding day run as smooth as possible. Thank you Julia!!"

Setting a budget for your wedding is the first step of action to take when planning, whether you’re on a tighter budget or unlimited. Having a spending plan will save you so much stress and keep you organized. To save wedding-week stress, set aside 10% of your budget right away to cover any last-minute expenses.

You hear it all the time: "Your wedding day is going to fly by!" And it's true! The little moments matter, and you will never regret having more photos from sweet moments on your wedding day. Whether you are planning to have a first look with your partner or not, I recommend setting aside time for a first look with another special someone. If you have a family member that you are super close to, not only is a first look a way to spend a little quality time with them on your big day, you will be left with priceless photos to look back on for years to come.

One of my favorite moments of Maggie and Sean's wedding was the first look with her dad. As many of you know, I never got that moment with mine, so being able to be a part of this sweet moment was truly memorable. Swipe to see the real-time reactions of this father-daughter duo!

This post is going to be a little off brand, but this brand is a reflection of me, so here goes!

Landon James was born October 5th 2023 and we couldn’t be happier! It’s been a wild year for planning weddings but this little face made it all worth it. A special thanks to all my clients who have been so patient with me through all the hospitalizations and curve balls while planning their weddings! This is what life is all about and why I got into weddings in the first place. It’s not about the flowers or dresses or makeup, although I love all those things. It’s about big life milestones with the ones you love. And I’m so proud to be able to celebrate life and love every single day! â€ïžđŸ„°

For those who know me, I don’t like to sit down or relax. I’m constantly moving and never slow down. I think that’s why when I had the opportunity to coordinate Katie’s wedding on my birthday, I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend my day.

In truth, it was her infectious smile and love for life and her partner Nick that told me I just needed to be a part of their special day.

So as I sit and relax today on my birthday for the first time in years, I am grateful to share my special day with such a beautiful couple. Happy one year anniversary, you two! 💕

What a WILD few months. đŸ™ŒđŸ» As many of you know, I had a busy May/June with client work, July I was in my SIL's destination wedding, August I took some time off to FINALLY do the wedding thing myself, September/October...more client work and then this month we MOVED! 😳

First I want to thank my existing and past clients for being so patient with me as I navigate this crazy busy time. You’ve all been so incredible!

Now...I'm back, but am in the process of transitioning my business to Hilton Head Island, SC. It's scary but so exciting at the same time!

Get ready to see more of me with sunshine ☀ and palm trees. 🌮

Many of my favorite moments on the wedding day has been when the bride interacts with her father. It's taken me a while to be able to witness these moments, knowing that my dad is no longer here to share these experiences with me. But now I feel even more honored and blessed to be able to coordinate these moments for my brides through a first look, the walk down the aisle, and the father/daughter dance.

To all the brides out there who will not experience these moments, please know that you're not alone. And for all those brides who will, cherish them and remember that this is an incredibly special day for them as well.

Happy Fathers' Day to all the amazing dads out there!
