WARNING: Currently in the FEELS, so sappy post below + an exciting ANNOUNCEMENT. đŸ€©

This photo may look familiar... I use it as the cover photo to represent my business, but I don't think many understand the significance. This is Erika's wedding from 2021. But it was also my FIRST official wedding design, so it is extra special and near and dear to my heart. There is a story about her wedding and how serendipity and fate played a big role. I can't possibly go into all the details of this day in this post, but hop over to my website blog if you're interested in hearing more about it.

Looking back, so much has changed. Since Erika's wedding, I had my own big wedding in Glastonbury, CT. Since Erika's wedding, my family moved states and my business had to start over from scratch in South Carolina. Since Erika's wedding, we have both had BEAUTIFUL babies and have started our families.

When I designed Erika's wedding, I was working a demanding 9-5 job and only did wedding planning "on the side." [CUE ANNOUNCEMENT] Well, that officially changed when this month when I finally quit my job and leaped into wedding planning as my full time career.

I have helped so many couples since Erika's wedding and I remember every single one. I am so grateful for all my couples, past and present, for trusting me with one of the most important days of their lives. To everyone who has supported me all these years, THANK YOU

Today I was compelled to share a photo of this beautiful bride and her daughter on Mothers’ Day. My social media is usually methodically planned in advance, but today? Just pure raw emotion that had to be shared with the world.

It’s my first Mothers’ day and my wedding world has blossomed bigger than I could have imagined. I have so much to be thankful for. I always said I wanted to give my family the best life by doing something bigger than myself. While that’s still true, there is a deeper reason. I love weddings.

Weddings are a symbol for love, families, and life. They represent families becoming one, and often times, growing. Being a mother is the hardest job. But the most rewarding. And I truly believe that family and love is what life is all about.

So, happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. You’re doing great. 😍

P.S Shoutout to Meredith for sending us this sneak peek on Mothers’ Day only ONE DAY after the wedding! What a special surprise for this bride. đŸ„č

Do I actually need a wedding cake?

No! It’s your day, and you can do whatever you want. With so many dessert options, choose one that reflects your personality. If you love cookies, have a cookie buffet. If hot chocolate is your jam, have a hot chocolate bar. Ice cream trucks and coffee trucks are cute and unique, creating memories for your guests. There are soo many sweet options! However, most of the couples I work with who have alternative desserts typically still order a small cutting cake, even if it’s from the grocery store. The tradition of cake cutting not only signifies the couple serving their guests, but also is a sign that it is now acceptable, as a guest, to leave the event if you choose to do so.

Comment below desserts that you would love to see at a wedding!

For the couple with a sense of humor, you might be looking for ways to entertain your guests. After all, a wedding is all about making memories for you and your guests! Here are a few simple ideas to make your day unforgettable.

Have a flower man. If there’s someone special in your life who isn’t a groomsman, but you would like to honor them during your ceremony, ask them to be a flower man! This can be done more seriously with sunglasses and briefcases walking down the aisle, or more humorous with a basket of petals (or shooters, if your bar service allows
)

Ask your bridal party to get creative with their entrance, or even make it a competition! They can practice their entrance at the rehearsal or rehearsal dinner to plan and get comfortable with their walking partner. This is what my bestie Jazz and great friend Chris did as they rolled in on tricycles at our wedding. It was a moment none of us will forget!

Or, do something completely unique like I did. During my mother-daughter dance, I cut the music to “Money Money Money” and my bridesmaids used money guns to shower us with $100 bills! (OK they weren’t real but I still felt like a high roller).

No matter what route you take, just make sure it’s authentic and not forced. If you’re wondering if your idea to add humor to your wedding will go overboard, comment below and ask us!

Imagine it’s your wedding day. The ceremony has ended, speeches have been made, your first dance is over, and now you’re finally sitting down to enjoy your meal. All of the sudden, your grandfather takes your grandmother on the dance floor, looks deep into her eyes and slow dances. Everyone is in tears. You are flooded with emotions. You look around. Where is your photographer? Where is the videographer? Well, they are taking a short break in a back closet to quickly scarf down some dinner.

Things like these happen more often than you’d think. Sometimes there are moments that even your wedding planner couldn’t plan for (we can’t read minds!). This is why I highly suggest you have a vendor table nearby the guests. Not only is it thoughtful for the people working so hard to ensure you have a perfect day, but the vendors won’t be exiting the room for an extended period of time. It ensures that you will have coverage of all events from your wedding day. Your vendors won’t want to miss anything either, and if you need anything, your planner will be right in the room, while also being able to have a short break after being on their feet all day! (After all, we are only human!)

When choosing your priorities with allocating your wedding budget, transportation is often overlooked. After all, guests typically drive themselves to work every day, right? However, if possible, I highly suggest booking transportation for yourself and your guests.

Firstly, for yourself. It’s the best day of your life. When the night comes to an end, do you really want to drive yourself to the hotel? Or do you want to sit in a backseat with your new spouse and talk about the night stress-free? Not to mention, there are so many cute getaway ideas, like a jeep wrangler or vintage car.

For your guests, many may be coming from out of town. It is less expensive overall for you to book event transportation than it is for all of those guests to rent a car.
If you’re wanting to party the night away with a packed dance floor, having guest transportation is a huge help. Guests who drive themselves might not want to drink very much due to driving later that night. With providing transportation, your guests can drink and dance the night away without worrying about safety.

Lastly, providing transportation allows you to control the timeline. You want your guests to be early to the ceremony? Have the transportation drop them off early. You want your guests to stay all night and not leave early? Offer only later trips back to the hotel.

When booking transportation, make sure to read reviews. You will want a company that is prompt and professional. It is also important to make sure your guests know the pick up times and what vehicle to look for. The more informed they are, the smoother the day will go.

Wedding Planner, Wedding Designer, Day-Of-Coordinator, Month-Of-Coordinator
what does it all mean? Let’s break it down.

A wedding coordinator is for the couple who has planned their wedding and just needs someone to come in toward the end to ensure it all goes smoothly. If planning is your jam, you likely feel the need to have someone there a few weeks before and the day-of to make sure all your planning is executed perfectly.

A wedding planner offers hands-on support for the months leading up to your big day. If you’re wanting to sit back and enjoy your engagement, a wedding planner can step in to guide you every step of the way.

A wedding designer helps with color theme decisions, florals, centerpieces, place settings, signage, and other elements of your decor. Many coordinators and planners offer design services as well.

Hi, I'm Julia!

When I'm not in wedding planning or project management mode, I am actually a big dork who likes wine, board games, cuddling with my 4-month old, or playing with my 4-year old puppy.

I like to laugh-- a lot--so I'm usually cracking bad jokes and laughing at myself, which my husband Nick finds pretty embarrassing.

I'm not much fun at parties because instead of talking to people, I'm usually the first (and last) to hit up the buffet. Food is everything.

Exercise isn't my thing, but I wish it were. I sometimes imagine myself on the elliptical, which is better than not thinking about it, right?

I'm basic in a lot of ways but one--my passion for THIS. I cannot wait to get to know YOU and help make your wedding a special reflection of you and your soon-to-be bride or groom! Let's do this!

Is there anything else you want to know about me? Drop a comment below!
