Who owns Berkeley Flowers and Gifts?
Berkeley Flowers and Gifts is owned and operated by Andrea Trujillo and Buffie Miazga, who have been managing the shop for over four years. They are involved full time to ensure the level of service is thriving in the present and growing for the future. The flower shop is operated daily by a team of talented, energetic and positive people that are united in their commitment to delight our customers. Come by our Bluffton location.....we would love to meet you!
Why do you say "We have the best roses in town!"?
Through research and testing roses from multiple farms we have found that "Rosaprima" roses are consistently the most impressive and longest lasting roses. Because of this, we purchase assorted roses from this farm every week on a standing order. This weekly investment enables us to offer the best product in town at competitive prices.
Why don't you work with national wire services?
We work hard to delight our customers. The wire services take orders through a call/e-commerce center, keep half the customer's funds, and then send the order to a local florist to fulfill the order at a net loss to their flower shop. Of course, this isn't in the best interest of the customer who wants something special to be sent to their loved ones.
Why do most of the pictures on your website look like they were taken in your flower shop?
Because they were! Because we are an actual local flower shop instead of a national wire service, we directly fulfill the orders we receive from our customers. We work hard to make flower arrangements that look even better in person than they do in a picture on line. We consistently have the flowers in stock to fulfill the orders on our website as shown, so "what you see is what you get" regarding color scheme and flower types.
Why do you ask for the recipient's phone number?
We typically do not call the recipient's phone number prior to delivery unless requested by the customer. Instead, we only call the number if we attempt delivery and no one is home to receive the flowers. If this happens, our process is to leave the flowers on a covered/shaded porch, call/text the number provided to inform the recipient, and leave a note in the mailbox. If the recipient calls us back and asks us to leave it with a neighbor or redeliver at a later time, we make every effort to accommodate that request.
Why don't you use many specialty vases?
Over time, the majority of our customers have told us that they see more value in our high quality flowers and not in expensive specialty vases. While we do have some unique vases in stock we do the majority of our arrangements in classic, glass vases that help highlight the natural beauty of the flowers.
Why don't you use silk flowers?
We use 100% fresh flowers and live plants. Our product has a real impact on the recipient that silk flowers do not. This is due to the "character" of something that was grown in nature instead of being manufactured in a factory. Our cut flowers have a consistently long vase life. While they will wilt eventually, the impression they leave on the recipient doesn't fade away.
Do you do wedding and event flowers?
Absolutely! We have over 50 varieties of flowers in stock on a regular basis that can be used to help make any wedding or event extra special. Please come by our Bluffton location or call us to schedule a meeting at any of our locations to see the great offerings we provide.
What do you do to maximize the vase life of your flowers?
We follow a SIMPLE six step process: Spray arrangements with "Crowning Glory" to help hold moisture in the flower heads, Inventory rotation schedule to ensure freshness, Maintain flower cooler at prime temperature, Purchase flowers from the best farms, Liquid Flower Food added to buckets/vases, Examine flowers while arranging to ensure top quality. We love to hear feedback on how long our flowers last after delivery!
