For those who want to include a specific dependence upon God as a center part of the marriage, I have found a wonderful unity ceremony using the cord of three strands. This symbol is based upon the book of Ecclesiastes, where it reads two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor It incorporates three strands of cord -one each for the bride and groom and one for God. At the beginning of the ceremony all three cords hang loose and then during the ceremony they are braided together to form a cross symbolizing God and the couple. This is a beautiful visual, and then the unity Symbol can be hung as a reminder for years to come. I got this one on Amazon. Contact me for more information.

It’s been two years since I officiated Allison and Nic’s wedding at the historic St James Church in Boardman Park. This summer I get to officiate two more there. What a beautiful place for a wedding! I have performed more weddings here than at any other venue.
