Last August, I rode for the eighth time in Pelotonia – a fund raising bicycle ride in Columbus, Ohio with one goal: beat cancer! My ride was a litter shorter – 77 miles – but no easier. As one of the older riders, the hills are more difficult for me every year! But – I made it! A small struggle in comparison to what so many of our friends face in their fight with cancer.
This is why I ride: to cheer on and financially support cancer patients who are currently in the battle for their lives. To memorialize those who lost the battle, to rejoice with those who have won the battle, and to support the progress being made so that loved ones who face this challenge in the future will have better treatments than we now have.
Last August, with your help, I was able to raise $3,185 for this worthy cause. Our Donatos Pizza Peloton raised over $125,000, and together – with 6,500+ riders and corporate sponsors – Pelotonia raised $25,006,939!
Pelotonia directs 100% of your donation to life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Their focus is to provide enhanced treatments and therapies that are less toxic and more effective; to fund advancements in immune-oncology, and to continue improving prevention and early diagnosis. For more information about the groundbreaking advances funded by Pelotonia, go to http://pelotonia.org/about/impact/.
By riding, I commit to personally raise $2,500. I hope you will consider supporting me today with a donation toward my 65 mile ride. Last year I received gifts from $10 up to $750. Every gift matters. Even if you give as little as $5 or $10, your support will bind us together in this fight against cancer. I am fighting some back and sciatica issues, and may require another back surgery, but am committed to doing this ride!
To make a donation, please follow this link to my profile page: https://pelotonia.org/profile/DB0210 Or, if you prefer to write a check, please make it out to “Pelotonia” and mail to me at 396 Brookfield Ave, Youngstown, OH 44512.
Thank you for supporting my cycling efforts and this great cause. Together, let’s save some more lives!
Gratefully,
Dan Betts
