Fun Morrow County facts and history!

Did you know? In the 1950’s, Morrow County leaders and farmers wanted to bring new jobs to the region. They knew the convergence of road, rail, and river in Morrow County were a unique advantage. In November 1958, voters approved the establishment of the Port of Morrow as a municipal district. The Port began purchasing and acquiring industrial and harbor land in the early 1960’s using a $500 loan from the Morrow County Commission. Their dream turned into reality as the first Port tenants signed up in the late 1960’s. Construction of the new I-84 interchange in the 1980’s relieved freeway congestion and provided easy access to the Boardman Industrial Park. The 1980’s and 1990’s saw further growth throughout the Port’s industrial parks. Diversification began in the 2000-2010’s with the addition of data centers and renewable energy companies. Today, the Port of Morrow is the second largest port in Oregon and a critical hub to distribute products from the Pacific Northwest around the world.

Jurassic Flats Carp Clave is all about things flats fishing and of course carp. We’ve teamed up with our friend Bill Marts from the Schmoots Clooper Invitaitonal Tournament to not only educate about the Columbia carp fisheries but to bring the fun of the Schmoots Clooper to this clave. Spend the afternoon with the Fly Project and House of Fly as we welcome the industry's best anglers, tyers, and brands. Presentations kick off at 9am and roll through 3pm with a 1-hour lunch intermission at noon.

On Sunday, we'll be hosting an on-your-own, virtual, and optional tournament. We organized this day as an opportunity to get out on the water and encourage vendors and other industry guests to join us. This tournament is a great opportunity for media exposure.

Qualifiers will be chosen for biggest fish, smallest fish, and most fish. To participate, hit the water and submit photos of your catches on instagram throughout the day using the hashtag

Did You Know? The Port of Morrow’s local economic impact includes more than 6,700 permanent jobs, $2.5 billion in annual output, $400 million in labor income, $104 million in state and local taxes, and $88 million in federal taxes. The Port plays a key role in attracting grants to improve public infrastructure. With the Port’s help, Morrow County has seen year-over-year-wage growth and is now the fourth highest in Oregon.
