Growing up in the ’80s and ’90s gay, and undiagnosed on the spectrum, wasn’t easy. The vitriol hurled at me was often unbearable. At age 16 I dropped out of high school and had no idea where the future would take me, but I made it through the storm, and I’ll make it through other storms. We need each other. Together we can put an end to the vituperation. Together, and only together, we can make this a better place for all. Peace!

I’ve been doing magic since I was eight years old. Magic is an art that has allowed me to express myself and be comfortable with who I am as a person. When I needed to escape from the world, magic was there. When I needed to be present with others, magic was there. Life can be tough. I learned this while growing up as a gay adolescent in the 90s. While being different, or perceived as different, can sometimes be daunting, and cause feelings of isolation, it is important to know that there are others who will walk this journey with you. You are not alone, and life does get better. In this new show, I am working on, I will present my journey, from why I dropped out of high school, to how I became a college professor, and why I think this message is important.
