Happy Birthday to us! Verdant Events turns three today 🍰

My name is Caitria and I started Verdant Events three years ago out of a love for events, nature, and the details. My background is a Bachelor in Fine Arts and over a decade working events in the hospitality industry.

I named my business “Verdant” because it means green, and I have a passion for creating beautiful experiences that are kind to the environment. I enjoy helping couples find practical, meaningful, and budget-friendly ways to incorporate sustainability into their weddings.

I may be a little quieter than usual on social media right now - I’ve been busy gearing up for the 2024 wedding season, and spending cherished moments with my two-month-old daughter. However I love being busy because I LOVE what I do. I’m so grateful that I get to call this is my job, so thankful for the support from the wonderful people in this industry, and SO excited for the year ahead 🤍

Lots of fun wedding trends are emerging for 2024!🎊Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Fewer (or Modified) Wedding Traditions - Couples are leaning toward more modern celebrations, meaning fewer formalities and less rigid structure. Traditions that are included are often modified by the couple to be more meaningful to them - such as a private vow exchange separate from the ceremony, a modest cutting cake in lieu of a large tiered affair, joint parent dances instead of conventional ones, and gifting the bouquet in place of a toss.

2. Lively Color Palettes - From airy, cool tones of lilac and periwinkle to bold reds, royal blues, vivid oranges, and buttery yellows, vibrant color palettes are in! These bright colors may be incorporated into sculptural florals, bold patterns repeated throughout the wedding design, or in rich layered textural design details.

3. Interactive Guest Experiences - Couples are choosing to include engaging guest experiences throughout their day, such as a ring warming during their ceremony, an audio or digital guest book during cocktail hour, or a surprise late-night snack featuring a food that holds significance in their relationship.

4. Sustainability - Couples are seeking ways to make their weddings more sustainable! This may include locally grown flowers, seasonal food, repurposed decor, reconsidering single-use plastic, or a biodegradable confetti toss. There are many eco-friendly options that not only align with your style and budget, but enhance your wedding. DM me if you’re interested in learning more!🌿

5. Minimoon First, Honeymoon Later - Couples are opting for a shorter, nearby “minimoon” right after their wedding to relax and unwind, and then planning a larger honeymoon to take later. I love this trend, since a local low-key getaway will help you recharge after your wedding, and then you have a second trip to look forward to (and let’s be honest, save up for)!

Happy New Year’s Eve!🥂

Reflecting on 2023, I’m filled with gratitude for being able to work with amazing couples and for them trusting me to be a part of their wedding day. Looking ahead, to say I’m excited would be an understatement. I can’t wait to see next year’s weddings come to life, to grow as a planner, and to welcome our little one into the world very soon.

Are you booking a getaway car? Follow these 5 tips to ensure a smooth getaway at the end of your wedding!

1. Plan the logistics ahead of time with your transportation company - when they will arrive, where they will park, and the route to your wedding night destination.

2. If you are driving yourselves, decide who will be the designated driver (and if you are reserving a classic car, find out in advance whether it’s manual or automatic).

3. Have your bags packed and ready to go in a pre-determined location, and label them clearly. Assign someone to put them in the car when it arrives at the venue!

4. Plan the timing, location, and details of your send off with your DJ and photo/video team for a seamless exit.

5. If you’re headed to a hotel and haven’t checked in yet, have your planner or a friend call the hotel when you depart to let them know you are on your way!

* Bonus tip: Secure snacks and drinks for your ride - ask your transpo service to have champagne waiting for you, and have a friend or your planner pack leftover dessert in the car!🥂🍰

Some of you may know already (especially if we’ve worked a wedding together recently), but it’s time to officially share some special news! Ilya and I are expecting a baby girl, due January 2024. It’s our first and we are both over the moon! 🥰

I’m already SO excited for our 2024 weddings and honestly can’t imagine not working with my amazing couples in the industry that I love. I’ll be taking a maternity leave January-February (exact dates to follow), but am booking 2024 weddings & events with dates starting May 1 and later!

So excited for this next chapter - and to join all the badass mom bosses out there! 💪🏼

McKenna asked for a bouquet with a “wild and foraged” look for her Idaho mountain micro wedding, and Kaitlyn from Two Hands Floral nailed it! She crafted this light and airy bouquet with pops of summery color and seasonal wildflowers including local lupines!

There was plenty of “something blue” at Jackie & Brad’s wedding!

Jackie & Brad incorporated lots of personal touches into their wedding, such as their favorite color, their favorite activity, and meaningful sustainable details:

💙 Brad proposed with a gorgeous sapphire engagement ring. They then chose to have their wedding bands created by local jeweler incorporating metal and stones from family heirloom jewelry.

💙 Jackie had her makeup done by with - a local Green Circle salon. She chose blue eyeshadow and rocked it!

💙 The ceramic vases used for centerpieces were handmade by Jackie’s mom! .design created beautiful arrangements with local flowers (and of course with touches of blue), and the centerpieces then turned into guest favors at the end of the night!

💙 Jackie and Brad incorporated lots of details hinting at their favorite shared activity, from their DIY seating chart to their cake from - can you guess what their favorite activity is?

Tips for writing your vows🖊️

Your vows are a gift to each other, and a commitment to your marriage! Here are a few tips for writing them:

→ Don’t wait until the last minute - start jotting down ideas early, revisit often, and continue to edit until you have something you’re truly happy with!

→ A vow exchange should be a balanced one - talk to your partner about the length, style, and tone of your vows so that you have similar expectations.

→ Read examples, and seek inspiration from your favorite music, poems, books, or shows.

→ It’s okay to be sentimental. If it comes from the heart, it won’t sound cheesy.

→ Tell your partner what you like about them, and possibly share a meaningful story from your relationship.

→ Remember to commit to your partner and make realistic promises to each other. Some promises may be serious, but you can also include silly ones, such as promising to take care of any spiders that make their way inside the house.

→ Practice reading your vows out loud, and in front of a close friend for feedback.

→ Don’t forget to say “I love you!”
