Catering Event: Valentine’s Day dinner ❤ at Sol Invictus Vineyard in Star. The appetizers were brie crostini bites with fig spread and candied pecans, and wild mushroom puff pastry bites with ricotta, and truffle oil — dinner was deconstructed beef wellingtons, with potato gratin, and bourbon glazed carrots!!

Vern Hickman, taught our trainees an intro to knife skills and sauté, and a French cooking technique called En Papillote which means “In Paper” baking trout in parchment. Each trainee got to make their own, the class was full and packed with learning opportunities! 🤩🙌

Chef Hickman was a Culinary Instructor at Boise State University Culinary Program for 21 years, and Renaissance Culinary Program for 17 years! Our Executive Chef Joe attended BSU Culinary School when he was there in the late 90s. We are honored to announce that Life’s Kitchen has been named a 2024 Neighborhood Champion by Bank of America and was awarded a $50,000 grant toward our youth training-program!

Along with the monetary award, Life’s Kitchen will receive leadership training, access to technical coaching and a network of peers in the nonprofit sector.
