IT'S GO TIME!!!
The official 2023 Boise River float season starts Thursday, June 29th!
The Float the Boise partnership has been working hard to prepare for this moment and we're excited to share this news ahead of the 4th of July holiday weekend.

The park has been gorgeous! Come out and see for yourselves :-). The birds are extremely active in the morning hours and the river is still raging; so bring your cameras and bring your pals, Barber Park sure is a real gem!

Ada County Parks & Waterways

Ada County is purposefully putting our forested area in Barber Park along the Boise River to work absorbing and dissipating flood flows. This black cottonwood forest and riparian area makes up 40 of the 70 total acres in Ada County’s Barber Park. Aside from a few primitive trails, the County has purposefully made no physical improvements within this area. This unique riparian area performs critical functions for habitat protection and flood protection. That flood function is extremely important this year since riparian area vegetation is a key factor in reducing downstream flooding. As floodwater flows through a vegetated area, the plants resist the flow and dissipate the energy, increasing the time available for water to infiltrate into the soil and be stored for use by plants and trees. We have strategically placed Super Sack sandbags in Barber Park to divert the water towards the riparian forest area and away from the asphalt parking lot which has been providing an ineffective shortcut to the river.
