Congrats to our amazing board member, Bettie Bond!!!

2024 Town of Boone 1872 Award Recipient - Elizabeth "Bettie" Bond

A resident of Boone for more than five decades, Bettie Bond is an active and vibrant presence in the community, and a dynamic proponent for all things Boone. She has made substantial contributions to Boone and the surrounding community through her work on numerous committees and boards including the Watauga County Historical Society, Appalachian Theatre of the High Country, Boone Historic Preservation Commission, Boone Sesquicentennial Committee, and Watauga County Public Library, among others.

The de facto Party Queen of Boone, Bettie Bond will serve as Grand Marshal of the 2024 Boone 4th of July Parade (a role she claims has been a longtime dream). Immediately following the parade, she will be presented the Town of Boone 1872 Award in a ceremony at the Jones House.

Come twist it up with us Appalachian Theatre with Ballets with a Twist on July 6th. This show will be a treat for dancers and non dancers alike.

With a healthy dose of hootin’ and hollerin’ (and lots of 💛) Hot Toddy has it all. See the dancing drink on stage at the Appalachian Theatre July 6th.

We're embracing music-themed films in June and a few of these Oscar nominated musicals are celebrating their 60th Anniversary! Our films go hand-in-hand with a month chock-full of music: The 3rd Annual High Country Jazz Festival, Tony Awards Watch Party and the 3rd Annual Boonerang Music Festival. To round out the month, we're excited to introduce a Juneteenth event: "Speaking of Freedom", Pride titles, Mountain Home Music's Summer Folk Summit and our first ever Mast Store Summer Series!
