If there’s one thing I’ve learned about weddings, it’s that no matter whether you choose to do a first look or wait for that traditional reveal, the moment you walk down the aisle toward your future spouse will always be one of the most profound and emotional parts of your day.

I wholeheartedly support both options. Each offers its own kind of beauty. When couples are unsure, I love helping them understand how each choice shapes the flow of their day so they can make the decision that feels most authentic to them. Ultimately, it’s their day, and it should reflect their story.

There’s a common misconception that a first look diminishes the impact of that walk down the aisle, but I’ve never found that to be true. The emotions are always raw, real, and deeply moving…no matter how or when that first moment unfolds.

✨Said goodbye to my 30s last month. Did I cry? Maybe. Do I feel 40? Only since doing a workout Marc gave me. To be brutally honest, 30s included some of my best and worst moments in my life. Navigating losing a parent, infertility and loss, and other difficult things that come along with life. On the upside my 30s brought me my business and my family, which are at the things I’m most proud of, and ironically had to work the hardest for.

Overall my 30s included a lot of “figuring it out.” By no means do I have it figured out yet, but with each year things become a bit clearer. I know one thing, I’m incredibly grateful for everything I have.

I started photography professionally right before turning 30. I took a leap and left a job as a teacher that gave me a lot of fulfillment, but the universe was pulling me in another direction and here I am.

My mindset as a newly 40 year old is to continue to focus on the values that are most important to me. I want to run my business and my life my own unique way, at my own pace. I’m a wife and mother of 3 small children, and I will continue to do things that benefit my family the most. In both my life and business, I remain committed to honoring Service, Honesty, Culture, Diversity, Legacy, and the art of Storytelling. Thank you for being part of the journey. ✨Katie + Kyle in Charleston ✨

Katie and Kyle’s elegant and timeless Charleston wedding was a total joy to capture. We photographed Katie’s sister’s wedding back in 2021, so this wedding was extra special. There’s nothing better to unleash our utmost creativity than walking into a wedding day knowing we will be surrounded by an amazing couple and their friends and families. The day was expertly planned by .peony.events A gorgeous fall day in Charleston that ended with dancing on the rooftop at sunset. I can’t possibly imagine a better wedding day for these two. ✨

I don’t always get to meet my couples in person before the wedding day—but that’s part of what makes this work so special. After countless calls, emails, and texts, by the time we finally meet it feels like we’ve known each other for years. ✨

As my family has grown, I’ve taken on fewer weddings each season, and it’s been the best decision for my couples and for me. Fewer weddings mean more time, more attention, and a deeper connection with the people I’m so lucky to photograph. 💛

A color palette that makes my heart so happy. ✨ Kaitlyn and Alex’s garden party at felt like pure magic — the soft blues, pinks, and peach tones blended beautifully with the green of the gardens. I especially loved that the bridesmaids chose their own gowns, bringing together different fabrics and textures in such an effortless, personal way. 🌿💐
