Lie to yourself if you have to. There are many morning that I tell myself I only have to do five minutes, and I always do more. I think of my workouts like brushing my teeth, something I just do out of habit, but starting is always the most challenging part. Make the conversation in your head about how long or what type of workout you will do. Focus on how you will feel afterwards and do what you can, when you can.

This photo was taken during my photo shoot about my weight loss story for Good Housekeeping Magazine as they loved that home video workouts were a huge part of my success (they still are!). I have a lot of favorites: Gilad's Bodies In Motion, Cathe Friedrich and Jari Love. and I start virtually every morning with Holly Perkins 10 Minute Yoga Energizer and I love at the end when she says, "You can do this any time, any day, to stretch and recover, boost your mood or just produce some really great energy." While I have done this workout hundreds, if not thousands of times, this line always hits me. You PRODUCE energy. So if you're feeling like you're energy is depleted, that's the time you probably need a workout the most!

p.s. No those weren't my clothes!

I tried everything from Atkins to Weight Watchers when the pounds were piling on. Off the top of my head, I can tell you I tried Atkins, The Cabbage Soup Diet, Dexatrim, Diet Workshop, The Fat Flush Plan, Fen-Phen, Jenny Craig, Lean Cuisine, Metabolic Designs, Nutrisystem, Slim Fast, South Beach, Weight Watchers, and a library full of diet books in between. In case, like I did, you enjoyed several "worth it" treats yesterday, just a reminder that it was a one day holiday. No need to throw in the towel between now and Monday or worse, until January 2nd. Lots of water today and be mindful that most of what the scale will show today is just a lot of water retention. Some extra water intake today will certainly help. I hope you all had a wonderful holiDAY!
